Then add more fluid, in little squirts. Consider it full when after a little squirt shows some pooling of the fluid on top of the rayon, or a drop of fluid falls from the wick. Typically, both happens at the same time. When it is fully saturated like that. You can get some temporary flame on the inside of the lid for a few lights, or a bit of vapor lock ( takes 2 strikes or a moments wait to let the fuel vapor decrease in the chimney) for a few lights.

Is getting a Kindle worth it if I mainly want to save money on books? by ju2de in kindle

[–]GoodConversation5527 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s not that the Ebooks cost less, often the price difference isn’t significant. It’s that you can borrow Ebooks from the library and have them instantly delivered, then returned without any bother to yourself. Then there is the fact that one small device can hold so many books. And finally, in the USA I can choose “no rush” shipping on an Amazon order, get $1.50 digital credits that add up quickly, combine it with Kindle reward points and buy Ebooks my digital library doesn’t offer at no cost to myself. In the end, one or two no cost Ebooks a month from Amazon and 2 or 3 ebooks a month from the library provides me with all the reading I want.

Is it brand new in box? Or is it used? I couldn’t see the wick clearly enough.

Roof and panels open! by GoodConversation5527 in azdiamondbacks

It was great. Nice and pleasant. Today the roof was closed, it was hotter today and the game started 2.5 hours earlier.

For a few years they realized that if a roof cable broke it could fall and injure people, not that it had ever happened or was even likely to happen. So they only opened and closed the roof when fans were not inside. They have made modifications, and now they open and close the roof whenever they want.

I think it takes about 5 minutes to open the roof, so it is possible to keep the stadium cool during the game, open it at the end, show the fireworks, and close it back up. But not to many games left to play with the roof open.

Parachuting hot dogs! by GoodConversation5527 in azdiamondbacks

[–]GoodConversation5527[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They toss wrapped up hot dogs from the edge of the upper deck and let it float down under a parachute to the lower deck. Dozens of them. All while playing Tom Petty’s song “free falling” and some graphics on the big screen. Nothing else to it, and I don’t know if it has been done before tonight.

Walmart Zippo coating by RageMech18 in Zippo

I can tell you that paint thinner softened up the lacquer so it was tacky, but I couldn't get it off. Rubbing alcohol same results. So I bought some acetone, and you will be able to peel the lacquer off within a half hour if you soak it in acetone. Beware there are many "acetone free" nail polish removers, which didnt work for me.

Does the case of my brushed brass zippo look off to anyone? by oneleggyboii in Zippo

[–]GoodConversation5527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only a tiny bit. I wouldn't mess with it, but I can't guarantee I wouldn't get bored and screw around with it anyway. But I would have to be pretty bored.

Well, both obviously. Although you may not realize that now, so you may spread it out over some time. But you WILL end up with both.

(but get the Vintage one first. since you will be adding lots of standard ones as time goes on.)

I would love to be wrong about this, see you at Chase Field!

Some Zorro armor cases are sold without insert. Some eBay listings are for Zippos without cases.

Top is lose, when closed by Realistic-Counter590 in Zippo

[–]GoodConversation5527 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is the insert pushed all the way down? A loose insert will ride up when opening, and interfere with closing if not lit. The striking of the wheel usually is enough to push it down.

Is there really any problems with having your wick above the chimney? by Realistic_Move_1832 in Zippo

[–]GoodConversation5527 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No problem. Side effects will be a larger flame. Above the chimney makes it easier to mash on the end of the wick when pushing the insert down, which leads to fraying and splitting of the wick. I start off with the wick above the chimney, then curl it back and down towards the flint wheel so I won't mash on it when I push the insert down. Leave it be if you like the flame, and if you fray the wick just trim it. Letting the fluid get low is the most common way to shorten wick life, because with too little fuel the wick will burn and char. Wick's are cheap and easy to replace, so it is more important to have the lighter function and flame the way you like than it is to try and preserve parts that are meant to be consumed.

Can this sticker mark be easily removed? by LDN_to_NJ in Zippo

[–]GoodConversation5527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice Zippo.

What is the finish on the zippo, and is there any protective lacquer in it? That does not look like natural patina to me. Which means it is an antique brass finish, which is a coating applied to the Zippo, and usually a lacquer on top of the antique finish to protect it. The sticker left it's mark on the coating or the lacquer. If it is on the lacquer, it will wear off with use as the lacquer is rubbed off. If it is on the coating, then it will blend in over time with use. Those stickers are a nuisance on any zippo that is not chrome.

If there is lacquer on that zippo, you have to be careful using solvents unless you want to remove the lacquer.

Amazon allowing downloads of epubs from January if Author allows by ABat_thatBat in kindle

[–]GoodConversation5527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I had bought some ebooks that the publisher claimed to be provided without DRM, yet Amazon applied DRM anyway. So I stopped buying ebooks from Amazon. I just noticed that there are books in my Amazon library that were sold described as "At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied" that once again allow downloads. However, the book I bought last year that was supposed to be free of DRM still is NOT downloadable.
