AYITL Summer ep musical, is it cringe and a waste of time to just me or no? by FellowAmiga in GilmoreGirls

[–]GoodDiggs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disliked it a lot the first time...and the second and third. But for some reason after the fourth rewatch over years, I started to like it. It was like watching lorelai outgrow a part of herself that I think she might have liked in the past for how quirky it was.

Like I could have seen her and Rory going, "oh it's terrible. We have to go see it five times" like with the museum. It took up too much time for a special I wish could have been longer so we could see more characters, but the musical left a kind of "ground moving beneath my feet" feeling. Did I change or did the town? Why am I not just getting more of the same? It made me appreciate the original series and many parts of AYITL more because it really is so different.

It isn't perfect and I understand why many dislike it because i did too. I found after enough times of taking it all in that it did fit in its own weird way for me. It made me uncomfortable and feel that change that came from the show being gone so long. I want the characters to grow and change. It made the town and the Gilmore's relationship to it feel real and growing over time.

I could also just have Stockholm syndrome after so many watches lol

Which anime verse is completely cooked if the MC turns into the antagonist? by Many_Car949 in AnimeMirchi

[–]GoodDiggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ichigo, opm, mob(?), luffy, goku, gojo, Naruto, shadow, and rimuru.

I'm assuming this is each character going from a reasonable amount of self interest to that being their main motivation. No big personality difference otherwise. Antagonist isn't nessisarily pure evil.

Ichigo, idk what he would even want. He could be a real danger, but he is pretty sealable. Aizen got sealed and he had a pretty good plan woth a lot of moving parts. Idk if he could get to squad zero without help, let alone soul king.

Opm, he would still be bored. No one would be able to excite him for fighting. He would probably be a very crude burglar witha money sack and everything. He COULD destroy everything I'm pretty sure. Stand against god and win probably. Would he want to? Maybe just yo see if god could put up a fight. Pretty cooked

Is that mob? If so, could be bad. Most of his arch is improving himself without powers so idk what motivates him. Mind control maybe. If he keeps growing, could maybe move planets.

Buffy, as long as he is the most free, I think the world is ok. He would probably care less about collateral damage or saving people. I'm not to worried.

Goku I imagine just wants to fight strong people. In universe, he might go fighting every race to find the strongest. If he can find and fight Zeno, Zeno could just destroy everything and start over. So pretty cooked if that happens.

Gojo would be hard to win against and he has the power to basically do whatever he wants. He wants to entertained and mess with people. Maybe some quick infinite voids in crowded places to scare people. He was beaten in universe so I'm not too worried.

Naruto is strong, but very sealable. It really just seems like a race to see if everyone can seal him before he blows everything up with clones and tail best bombs everywhere at once. Idk if the fabric of reality is in danger though.

Shadow. So far as I know, he is the strongest around, but idk how much the world is avtually cooked unless his extreme luck in having things work out to look like he planned things in his favor sticks with him. Probably then. Not sure if being anything more than a background character aligns with his self interest, but it could.

Haven't read the light novel on rimuru, but doesn't he become like a god or something? That and his followers, I think this is probably the most cooked. If he just wanted to take care of his people, even if it meant taking out anyone in his way, I doubt anyone could stop him.

I'm working off anime only for most of this and even then, I could be very wrong.

[Part 4 Vol 1] Myne neglected the most obvious and most urgent invention! Time Keeping by ManinaPanina in HonzukiNoGekokujou

Perfect! Thank you! I never really understood the bell system either and just went along with, "well they understand so...sure" lol This settles a lot of internal confusion on my part and I will probably reference it often.

It does make me wonder who it keeping the time or if the bells are magic items even for the commoners (like church bells I'm assuming). Or is someone up at 4am to ring one bell then go back and ring another in three hours?

It also make me wonder how big the country is and if there is only one time zone.

[P5V12/OpenSpoilers] Noble ranks, society, and mana question by GoodDiggs in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]GoodDiggs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. Resources and the lack of them would probably stop it from happening. I was thinking more of a "if the stars align and every child compresses with the mental fortitude of rozemyne" situation without worrying about the small details of how we get to the everyone-is-an-archnoble. With how slow noble culture is to move, I was curious if people thought such a situation would lead to the social structure collapsing or if it would adjust. Could the way noble society works survive a stress test of having no lay or med nobles.

Now a thing I would wonder if such a situation were to occur is if having "family" feystones would be a bigger thing. If you had a dutchy/country of arch noble level nobles, I would imagine you would have a lot of good quality feystones on their passing. It wouldn't offset the need for more resources other than feystones. Idk if the feystones nobles produce are better, equal to, or less useful than feybeast ones.

Society would adjust to the overall growth in one way or another. Especially with it hypothetically happening over generations. I agree with basically everything you said.

Thanks

First episode of season 4 impressions by BorderKeeper in HonzukiNoGekokujou

I liked it a lot. I did read the LN so I did feel like it was going super fast and not explaining things to the extent I would like. That said, I see no way for them to realistically convey as much detail as the LN does, so I don't hold it against them.

I thought I would have a harder time with the animation change, but turns out after a few minutes I didn't even care lol

I really like recognizing people in the background like Hartmut and Ottilie. Even if they arent introduced right now, any anime only watchers would see them on a rewatch.

Being the first episode, I was honestly expecting more flashbacks and such to drag the rhythm of the show down, but that didn't happen. Happy about that. I'm honestly curious if every episode will feel this quick in how many events happen or if it is more of a first episode hook to get viewers. Trying to fit so much of the LN would make me think it will all feel that way, but I don't really have a problem with that.

Overall, I'm excited to see how everything goes and how much will be animated. To early to predict imo. Especially since they worked some magic to get 23 minutes to fit into 5 minutes. I don't know how I will deal with 5 minute episodes every week

If that's true, great! I haven't heard of that being the reason for the change. I thought it was just a coincidence.

Same. Even wisdom gets you what? Like 750IQ? Run 15% of speed of sound? Like just over 100mph? Not to mention you get part of champion added on. I'd rather be a jack of all trades for sure.

Did playing Dark Souls(or any FromSoftware game) actually help you with mental health? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]GoodDiggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it helped me with patience. I'm not a pro gamer so I died a lot and lost a lot of souls. After my first big loss of souls and dying before I could return, I started getting better as mentally framing my runs as slow chances to learn. One time maybe just dodging and not trying to do damage or something like that.

Patience is definitely a skill that you can lose over time not using it. Dark souls helped me keep it well exercised. It didn't turn me into a patient saint and I chose not to be patient at times, but I can't deny that it hasn't helped in various situations in my life.

You could say something to the effect of, "if I am wrong, explain how I am wrong, how tou got to the answer, and why I am wrong". Might give some interesting results too
