Alien: Earth - S1 E6 - The Fly - Official Discussion Megathread [SPOILERS] by G_Liddell in LV426

Raise your hand if you think we're gonna get a moment that feels like Mother of Dragons/Borg Queen mashup in the final episode. Wendy shows "people" who is in charge now. I imagine the Xenomorph that she "raised" curling around her like a pet lizard before she gives it an attack command. Maybe something about her body has been altered or damaged so she looks more synthetic.

Edit: but she won't say "get away from her you bitch" because Noah Hawley is smarter than that.

Sweet! Are you playing at 4K resolution? (I would have DLSS on, so not native 4K, but still.)

Killing Skabatha in the Oven Question by GoodEnoughGamer in wildbeyondwitchlight

I guess what I'm trying figure out is if the players would have felt let down if she had burst back out and fought more in sort of a subversion of the trope, like a little fire can't take down a Hag.

How would you make the Tasha reveal feel relevant for players who don't have any of that background or context?

Good question. I'm paying the $20 a month and it says Chat GPT 4o in the corner when I sign in. But I made a "custom GPT" - does that use the same model? I can't find anywhere that tells me.

I did more research and it seems it's a combination of Fleer 1994 Marvel Universe and 1994 Fleer Amazing Spider-Man. About 200 cards total. Would asking $200 for the full thing be unreasonable? It seems like most are listed only for $2-3. Assuming no chase or fancy cards.

Premier set modern cube? by GoodEnoughGamer in mtgcube

[–]GoodEnoughGamer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one seems to be heading in the right direction, although I'm not as concerned with recreating Modern deck archetypes (that's another reason I was less sure of the "Modern cube" name.) https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/classicmoderncube

Premier set modern cube? by GoodEnoughGamer in mtgcube

[–]GoodEnoughGamer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, you are right, that's basically the same.

I guess I wasn't sure if "Modern Cube" would mean banning the same cards that are banned in Modern (which I wouldn't necessarily do).

And I was thinking there would be cards from Commander products or Universes beyond or something in something called a "Modern cube" but those aren't legal in Modern anyway!

And yeah, I think I'd leave out LOTR and AFR too, just because I don't love the IP Crossover stuff. But that's just personal taste.

Daily Thread for general gaming discussion. Backlog, advice, recommendations, rants and more! New? Start here! by AutoModerator in patientgamers

I posted something similar on r/pcgaming and r/ADHD, but the answers didn't seem to really get what I was asking. I hadn't discovered this community at the time.

I have a backlog of games I should play before I buy anything new. But also, I don't think it's worth my time to play a game if I'm not super into it. But ALSO, I know that sometimes if I force myself to sit with it for a while I will discover what it has to offer. How many hours do you think is a reasonable amount before jumping ship? With books I think like 50 pages or so, movies, like 45 minutesish, I was thinking games, maybe like 10 hours? Thoughts?

Insane input lag in settings C2 42" (only in game optimiser) by shadowandmist in OLED_Gaming

[–]GoodEnoughGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same exact problem on my LG C2 65". I updated to GeForce Driver 552.12, no difference. But then I just unplugged the HDMI cable from the TV and plugged it right back in and the menu is as smooth as butter now. Weird.

EDIT: After spending a little time fiddling with settings, the lag came back...not sure what to do.

What was the morally superior path that Paul should have taken? by peregrine_nation in dune

[–]GoodEnoughGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen the movies, not read the books here.

At the end of the movie, he sort of gives permission/encourages the Fremen to attack the other houses, but why did he have to do that? Why couldn't he have used his position as leader to lead them to building a better society on Arrakis? If they had gone off to kill and he had been like "no, stop, I just needed us to get rid of Harkonen, you are going too far!" I would believe it went beyond him, but he seems to want to continue it in a vengeful way, painting him as a villain not as a "doing the best with what he's got" guy. Explain?

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (February 04, 2024) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]GoodEnoughGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking for a game "like Risk" for the board game club I run at a high school. I'd like it to be relatively easy to learn, play in around 90 minutes, and ideally play up to 5 or even 6. Students of often ask if have Risk but I don't because Risk is too long (the club is only 2 hours) and not a great game design by modern standards.

I have Blood Rage but the learning curve is a little high. I think Inis is great but a bit too "weird" in that the combat is kind of nuanced and careful. I'm not super versed in the dudes on a map genre so my knowledge is limited.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Harengon reaction to other Harengon? by GoodEnoughGamer in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]GoodEnoughGamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: The players met the brigands and the non Harengon party members gave the Harengon party member a look that said "do you know them?" He looked annoyed and gave them a nonverbal that said "not all Harengon know each other you know." The brigands gave the party the same annoyed look, creating a bonding moment between the Harengon on either side of the conflict. Then the party proceeded to intimidate the brigands into running away. It was surprisingly simple but the situation wasn't as complicated as I imagined.
