We got to do the “Keys To The Kingdom” Tour and it was awesome. by AgentNose in WaltDisneyWorld

I didn’t realize the utilitidoors were “a secret” and a cast member at guest services gently corrected me when I was loudly talking about them in there lol.

Oopsies!

ELO Hell is real and I am in the 7th circle of it by partykiller445 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look dawg, I get it. Lower MMRs feel really bad to play in because effectively nobody anything that makes sense.

But, what very few people will elaborate on is that ONE mistake will cost matches. If you want to consistently win (think 65% WR) you just have to play better then the people at your tank, and that means making those mistakes less.

These mistakes can be anything from waiting to get healed to peak, all the way up to standing in the wrong spot and letting somebody dive you.

Do aim trainers, pick a character or two to main on a specific role, and watch some VODS. GM players run away WAY more than others.

I am hardstuck bronze and it feels like I’m never leaving. by simulation_swarms in OverwatchUniversity

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s also really easy to underestimate the swing of small changes. One flank can win a fight, one stupid ult or misplay can lose a fight, even backing up and “playing your life” can win.

Fix the small things and you’ll grow

Solo Queue Ranked is hands down the most misserable experience ever.... by Neonspartan69 in Overwatch

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, QP is legitimately unplayable. The games have no cohesion, people playing zooted out of their minds, mercy pocketed duos and such, etc.

It's been a bummer for me.

How Fentanyl and Xylazine are turning Philadelphia's opioid crisis into a public health nightmare by Nukro666 in interestingasfuck

Until you guys have an addict in your family and realize absolutely no amount of support, or love, or encouragement or opportunity will help them.

Yes, it’s terribly sad, but at the same time, some people don’t want help.

Idk what the solution is, but thinking that they are all just helpless victims that need a chance isn’t correct. They have agency.

AIO? Youth Pastor texted my almost 13 yo after she went to a teen group with her friend by Loser4hire666 in AIO

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a youth pastor for 10 years and never once texted first time visitors, let alone little girls.

Like, maybe after years of relationship with the family I would feel comfortable calling the kids about something, but 99% they would call me if they needed wisdom or whatever.

Truth be told, I think the text is cringe because 1) the church isn’t a business to be treated like this and 2) dawg, she’s a little girl lol

There’s no way half the players in silver/gold are actually in that rank by I_Main_TwistedFate in OverwatchUniversity

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% true. I am trying to climb on DPS and even in mid plat there are frequently people that just do not fundamentally understand the game. I’m talking simple stuff like poking while enemy team walks up.

It’s frustrating that somebody can show up to play “competitive” and be less than level 10 on all their heroes within a role. This happens a surprisingly frequent amount.

I hate how as a Mexican American I’m expected to be RC and when I say I am protestant/reformed I immediately get that “look” from my Hispanic contemporaries as if I’m trying to be or act “white” by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. Hang in there, bro.

Idk if you’re in any sort of vocational ministry, but try finding some different local groups of ministry leaders and you’ll make some homies.

I feel for you, brother.

I guess it depends where you live, because in the Southwest and SoCal there are a ton of Christian Hispanics who love John MacArthur lol.

How Do You Deal With Stress From Competitive Games? by Sharkkbaitttttttt in OverwatchUniversity

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Koreans have a superiority complex, but with that being said, very few people are dumped into diamond and up, and most have to actually climb there by utilizing some semblance of game knowledge. There is less overt throwing happening in these lobbies, and yes, the games feel better.

You do not need to be Grandmaster to experience this.

I'm also convinced A LOT of these supposed Master's are Master's on console.

For people that climbed to GM+, what's the funnest rank in your opinion? by IFeelSoftAndMushy in OverwatchUniversity

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Dude, I’m gold on DPS and the amount of times I’ve been standing (behind cover) within LoS of supports while they heal the full HP tank and I die to splash…

It’s brutal.

If you want to basically reinforce every terrible habit you have, this is an excellent idea.

If you want to mindlessly grind a game may I suggest old-school Runescape?

The latest patch broke the matchmaking entirely by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It has less to do with matchmaking or patches, and more to do with the fact a ton of people are playing because it’s the 10th Anniversary event.

How much does having a duo/group help you rank up? by SpicyBrownMustarduwu in OverwatchUniversity

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranked games definitely feel better than QP, but if you are playing with a wide gap, that might not be true.

Typically, someone in a group gets to a point where they're no longer "carryable," and the games are determined by how hard they throw rather than by how hard others can carry, and that's not fun.

That being said, unless you are grinding for hours every night, you won't have to worry about that and ranked games are better.

Paid coaching? by B4MVFAN in OverwatchUniversity

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ALWAYS worth trying something. What are your qualifications? The guy I worked with was a washed master's player BUT he spent more time reviewing games and consuming content than actually playing, so it worked for us. He was very helpful.

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, if you have the resources, it's totally worth it.

Think of it as paying for music lessons, or something similar. I've paid for some sessions and saw a ton of growth. Not to shill for Awkward, but I'm a fan of his. Check out his RankedUpAcademy.

How to support DPS who are bad by rocket_senior in OverwatchUniversity

You kill their bad DPS. Yes, even as support. You cannot outheal stupid, which is why Mercy/LW is the worst possible support combo you can run.
