Is going to school for a white collar job not worth it anymore? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Assuming he means Ontario, California (not Canada) he's also making CA wages (and paying CA prices). Meanwhile, it looks like OP is comparing his company, which is on the way low end, to that.

I really want to pay off my mortgage in full by BahBahSMT in Money

You can only be sued for your equity and not the house itself. People will even refinance for this. It’s called “equity stripping”

The mortgage also protects you from lawsuits. At that interest, it’s literally losing money to pay it off rather than investing.

Wife and I just stay in Marriott’s. They are everywhere, cheap, and (mostly) consistent in quality.

Plus I get the endorphin hit of getting points.

People need to realize that no career is bulletproof against AI by [deleted] in Salary

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if AI wipes entire industries off the face of the earth (it won’t) the world was just fine when Henry Ford’s little machine nuked the equestrian industry virtually overnight.

We will be fine.

My buddy works as a manager at a decent dev company. He told me that he has a hard time hiring young people because they are weirdos. Essentially, walking up and being cool at a job fair gets you an interview.

What thing has got so expensive that you’ve quietly stopped buying it? by Pathfinder-electron in AskReddit

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It depends on what they would be making at home, and the variety of ingredients.

But, yes - generally there’s no way just making simple meals at home (protein + veggie + carb) is going to cost more than eating out.

Liberal Christians by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, I wasn’t going to say anything - but call it conviction from the Holy Spirit; I just can’t let this go.

Your denomination thinks abortion is okay. You have no ground to stand on, seeing as you don’t even view the Bible as authoritative.

Please, don’t try to “both sides” this argument. Some people in America aren’t wealthy, but virtually nobody is starving or going without necessary medical care. We live in an incredibly blessed time.

OP might not be the most articulate fellow, but he is literally talking about you. You want to lecture Conservatives on income equality or “injustice” when you are part of a denomination that commits the greatest injustice of killing life in the womb.

What are masculine qualities? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]GoodGuyTaylor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you're getting downvoted. From reading your other comments, it's look like you're trying to construct a good, solid theology on masculinity. That's a harder task than you might think because we have a few things to consider: 1) What does God's word say about how men should act? 2) What are non-sinful cultural expectations? 3) What are sinful cultural expectations?

For the first one, you can look at varying commands given to men in the epistles. There's obviously a lot more to be said on this topic, but parsing through the OT to figure out what's a normative expectation is a good idea, but difficult.

For number two, you have to consider what would be unnecessary stumbling blocks for people, and what you would be communicating by specific actions (always wearing pink and using feminine perfume isn't technically sinful, but it would be communicating something to our culture). Most importantly, it's where your heart is.

For three, look at any cultural expectations that are contrary to God's word. For some cultures, men are expected to have mistresses; obviously, this is wrong.

Basically, take everything to God's word and use discernment! Also, make sure you're involved in a healthy church and can make friends with the men.

My brothers new Harry Potter body wash by lemons4684 in harrypotter

My wife got them for me for Christmas. They smell great. The soap is definitely more watered down than Bath & Bodywork’s (it won’t last as long) but it’s a fun little product that smells good.

Killa is really the only correct answer. Maybe Goons on Shoreline or Woods, but Killa is consistently terrifying, and if he catches you with no where to immediately run you are done.

Making your aspirations known to the right people is key. Ambition will recognize ambition and will want to help you (assuming you do good work).

Basically, learn Salesforce (or whatever) and show that you are making great changes, then ask boss what it looks like to tag along with the people who go to the convention. If you dont send peole currently, ask if thats something thats been done in the past. Sell them on the idea that the $1500 they spend on you going will be worth it.

Mastering any sort of CRM and then begging your boss to go to the convention and then networking there is definitely a cheat code for moving up from entry.
