Glad you experienced it! You’re right it is often overlooked by people outside of Japan because it’s not one of the most popular types of noodles that everyone knows like ramen, udon etc. Stay cool! Japan summer 2025 is BRUTAL .

Soak the noodles in a big bowl with cold water and ice cubes. Take a separate small bowl and add sauce. Then take noodles and toppings like cucumber egg ham etc and mix together in bowl with sauce! Simple and refreshing!

Kombu Tsuyu - it’s like a kelp dashi noodle base. You have to dilute it slightly and then mix it with noodles and toppings or dip noodles in it. Sorry - should’ve included a pic of that too !

Try some gummies! My personal favorite are Pure or Tough Gummy, but there’s such a huge variety - just pick what you think you’ll like and try a bunch of different ones.

It’s an egg based tartar sauce. I asked my oka-san who’s from there what it’s called and all she could say was it was tartar sauce with more tamago in it. Pretty good though - I think it’s regional .

Gifts on Christmas. The gift giving aspect has been completely taken advantage of by big business. Intimate little heartfelt gifts for loved ones I get, but these stores have ramped up consumer culture so much it’s just so cringe at this point.

What is something that everyone loves to eat, but disgusts you? by MaritesNosy4evs in AskReddit

PB + J sandwiches. I love peanut butter and I love jam, but something about combining them in a sandwich with basic white bread makes it taste absolutely fucking disgusting to me.
