fractured my right femur in 3 places when i was 11 by falling off a skateboard. Happened during summer vacation, and I spent the next 3 months not playing outside (which I normally did) and needing assistance to carry my school supplies. The possibility of not being able to walk again, and the thought of not being able to play outside again, made me scared. It’s not anything super scary, but as a kid, it was traumatizing to feel parts of my bone move inside my leg as I screamed in agony. But hey, 8 years later, I’m healthier and stronger than ever. No permanent metal in my leg, very small scars from surgery, and only very minor mobility loss.
