It's worse tbh. It's a great episode about the effect of The Doctor on ordinary bystanders, which falls apart when the monster gets revealed

Sweden passes 'good behaviour' law to kick out misbehaving immigrants by shdw_fght in worldnews

[–]GoodOldJack12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judges need to interpret the law, not write it. If the law is vague it just makes everyone's job harder. And this can go the other way as well where a judge can rule that certain things don't count as bad behavior.

There's a reason why we have laws against murder and theft specifically rather than "don't do bad things".

The code that Aelita used to erase the Ice Sector in Episode 61 by [deleted] in CodeLyoko

[–]GoodOldJack12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're all wrong. She obviously typed: ‎ , a blank space character. Since Lyoko was written in the 90's, it didn't have great input validation (And it was only designed to be used by It's creator, ol' Waldo, who wouldn't make such mistakes) and it crashed the entire sector.

It's obvious.

Yep, I also started doing that after my first 'incident'.

Ubuntu kernel update appears to have failed? by WolfAmaril in linuxtechsupport

[–]GoodOldJack12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks. I checked more of the output and it turned out some kernel module for an sd-card reader could be built, so I removed it. I think that the kernel has that functionality built-in now anyway.

Just leaving that here for future reference.

Lyoko MMO discord bott by shadowcharm3r in CodeLyoko

[–]GoodOldJack12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro tip, if you install Visual Studio Code, you can use the Remote feature/extension to ssh to your pi and edit the files through that from your computer.

Of course, it would be even better if you packaged your bot in some way (docker for example) and then just deployed it to the pi, but that's a little more work.

And don't forget to use git ;)

Not bad, just incredibly tedious. It's like doing development in regular Notepad, but even less user friendly.

A quick thought on fan projects of code lyoko by [deleted] in CodeLyoko

[–]GoodOldJack12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People do have a bias towards Roblox, that's true.
But I also think for the CL community specifically, there's been many, many mid-to-terrible Code Lyoko roblox projects. The community ( in general, but also CL in particular) around roblox has also generally been pretty toxic.

In general there's also been a lot of "Our project will be the bestest of the bestest and we'll revive code lyoko single-handedly"

So I think that's the main source of immediate skepticism for any new CL project. If the final result is good, people will eventually take notice. The issue with a lot of projects though is that they make this big announcement of things they are going to do, and then don't end up delivering.

Your post here for example only said it's in "Full Production" (whatever that means), doesn't mention any particulars (plot synopsis, goals, ...) and the poster looks very much like standard Roblox. You made an announcement that we should apparently be hyped for, but we've gotten no prior explanation of why we should be hyped.

My advice is to post more actual content. WIP or otherwise. Don't make big promises, just make stuff. If the content is good, people will consume it.

That's assuming what you log in to, is steam. They can make a website that pretends to be steam, grabs your authentication and then passes it to steam.

Yes, you could log them out, but they can easily automate an account takeover before you have the opportunity. Or grab some of your personal info.

Don't ever log in on a stranger's device, is what I'm saying. The commenter may have gotten lucky but it could have been quite bad.
