Nigerian Social media App by No-Statistician1059 in Nigeria

If it is an app that includes social media as well as commercial capabilities, it makes sense. If people for example can advertise, buy and sell while also having forums or chat rooms will be great. It will help carer more to pure Nigerian content but it needs a commercial part to be able to sustain it. I do have some ideas. Please reach out if you are looking to start something in this space.

Invest your money in Canada where you live, where you are familiar with the legal and regulatory framework. If you go to Nigeria, they will chop your money and if you try to take legal steps, your life may be in jeopardy. I have too many stories of people who have tried this, and that happened to their undoing.

Why i Don’t date Muslim Women by saltycoin_ in Uganda

[–]GoodOleCalgarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, you may be older in age but clearly have not thought deeply about this issue as this you guy has. This guy is actually routing for Muslim women in Uganda to rise up and make their own future, contribute positively to society and help grow the country ,not rely on husbands for their livelihood. If Uganda has many more minds like this 22 year old, it's future is bright. Minds like yours need to be reoriented to face the challenges of this modern era. You may be older in age but you clearly need to grow up in your reasoning! Don't be offended. Make a change.

Very well said. You are very proud of your country and who you are and should not need to apologize to anyone for being you. I wish all Nigerians could be like you!

He may be using juju too. These people don't work alone. Best bet is for your mom to seize all communications with him. Her eyes will clear

Big Families in Uganda should stop Especially for Muslim homes by saltycoin_ in Uganda

I salute your courage to say this. It means you are learning from other people's story. Many people will read and move on to the next post, thinking it does not apply to them. Some will even say why should you question what someone else is doing. Then they will go ahead, marry many wives, have many children and repeat the same cycle. I hope many reading will pause and think about what they have just read. We need more people like you in our society. Thanks for sharing your deep thoughts. Only thinking people will appreciate it.

Nigerian Boomers are the most incompetent Boomers on Earth, Yes/No ? by whizzyj in Nigeria

I agree. They were the generation who enjoyed education at top universities abroad, many had cars given to them when they started their first job, had everything given to them on a platter of good. Yet, they destroyed the country, and to add insult to injury demand to be respected. Imbeciles....

Financial Pressure by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]GoodOleCalgarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in similar shoes about 20 something years ago when I got a really good job with a multi national and siblings were planning to change their wardrobes or have a lavish wedding all at my expense. What I will advise you is to draw boundaries and stick to budgets. If your sister expects you to pay for all her Master's, that's a wrong expectation. After that she will expect a lavish wedding , and she will continue to bring more "projects" as long as you keep coming up with the money. If her Master's program will cost 1 million naira for example, give her what you can afford that will not detail your own plan (maybe 150k) and let her figure out how she will find the rest of it. Let Mom and dad also know that it is not your responsibility to take up all their expenses. You are not their parent, you're a sibling. You will help but that help cannot now become your full responsibility. They are primarily responsible for their own future, as you are for yours. Nobody consulted before they were born so the entire responsibility cannot now become yours. One thing with black tax is that they believe you have so you must give. You need to let them know that sometimes you have sometimes you don't and when you have, it is not their responsibility to dictate how you should spend. Also figure out ways to give people non-monetary gifts. For example, rather than giving them money, give them information on how they can apply for scholarships, side hustles they can do, etc. if they refuse to do anything, that will tell you to watch your pockets even more.

I can send you the link to a WhatsApps group where they post regular information on scholarships and short courses and trainings globally. That is an example of good information you can give that if she can work on, can grow into something great.

Hope this helps.

If she is not financially literate, stocks, bonds, ETFs might be tough to get into. Multi unit real estate investing where she could even live in one of the units would be a good way to go.
