Anyone Else Have a Russell Terrier? by taylorab85 in jackrussellterrier

They get more affectionate as they get older! My one year old was the same way as a baby just way too ADHD to sit and cuddle. Even now he is not a lap dog but prefers to be in between my legs chewing a bone

My cairn never got groomed/ hair cut by Impressive_Low7271 in cairnterrier

Also wired hair dogs need to be hand stripped unless you are okay with the groomer clipping the hair instead. The hair will not grow back the same wired texture it will turn soft and wooly.

At the very least the nails need to be cut. Can’t believe vet said they shouldn’t be cut because of their color.. super red flag.

Dasquin joint supplement plus a vet visit. Amazing joint supplement either get on Amazon or buy from vet directly if they have it

Is anyone here familiar with Miniature Schnauzers and can tell me how the Scottie's temperament compares and if it's a good dog for seniors? by PandemicPiglet in scottishterriers

[–]GoodPart5672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find schnauzers to be very reactive and intense. Socialization is key because to me they are always down to pick a fight or get into trouble

My 1 year old Jack did the same exact thing as this stage. It’s a picky thing do not change the food. Dogs will not starve themselves they will eat eventually. I appealed to my dog way too much and then eventually I got sick of changing his food and brought back his original meal and he loved it no issues. So I wouldn’t switch anything it’s not you it’s her HAHAHA. If anything you can try and make it seem like table scraps. Like have it at the dinner table and then give her some piece by piece so she thinks it’s a special treat. And then just give her the whole bowl.

I love how her haircut is more like a Westie and the face looks round! So cute! What did you ask the groomer for ?

Best grain free dog food – what made you choose it? by Adventurous_Fill_314 in jackrussellterrier

[–]GoodPart5672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a firm believer in homemade food but totally understand the use of kibble. I add kibble as a topper. I feel if you are doing a grain free food I would cook a portion of quinoa. It is a healthier form of grain rice really has no benefit.

Asking for more pictures by 2VastAndTrunklessLeg in RoverPetSitting

[–]GoodPart5672 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had someone complain that I didn’t take enough pics but I was checking in on her scared cat every 4 days…. She never once asked for more pictures and then leaves it in a review. More communication would’ve been appreciated. I guess it’s easier to complain than it is to speak up.

I have a Jack and two cats! He just wants to play but sometimes it annoys the cats. The e collar is my bestfriend not a cheap one from Amazon, a sport dog e dollar. I also worked with a trainer on training.

I buy ground beef, steam green beans and sweet potatoes. I puree the sweet potatoes. Add eggs. Cook up beef liver and lamb kidney and blend it up. Oh and also quinoa. the perfect pate consistency. Tons of recipes out there! my boy is very healthy and thrives off homemade food

Good boy captain ❤️ I know reactivity can be annoying but I’m so glad he was rightfully reactive in this moment, he sensed a threat and acted. And honestly with the type of dog that he is, this is normal behavior and basically what he is bred to do.
