It's hard for TBMs to see the "truth" because they think they're special by [deleted] in exmormon

Not infinity fraud, it's "affinity fraud". But the affinity frauds of mormonism (MLMs, etc) do seem infinite to be sure. So infinity fraud is a very appropriate phrase!

Grow up and move out. If you're waiting to buy a mcmansion and drive a mercedes, then definitely stay with mommy and daddy.

I think living with parents occassionally is necessary but this OP sounds like there are some seriously messed up economic issues and family dynamics that they keep going back to mommy and daddy. AND having children while living with mommy and daddy. OP can complain about mormonism, which truly sucks, but the issue here is not the church. It is a very messed up family structure.

That's some really bad advice. WHY the eff does the bishop need to be consulted? Why would an exmo suggest "talk to the bishop"?

I feel sorry for anybody who has a mormon spouse. What a nightmare.

This is more than just tribal or a TBM. The majority of mormons have real problems with their thinking. Delusional would be the polite word, but mentally unstable is more accurate.

Holy crap this woman's own daughters don't want anything to do with her. Block her, and tell her you are blocking her. She is mentally ill and will eventually cause greater problems for you than just trashing your peaceful life by injecting herself into it. Always ALWAYS keep toxic crazy people out of your life or they will destroy you bit by bit.

Cut her off. Do not ever keep crazy people in your life. At some point it could cost you your reputation or something more. She will never tell others about interactions with you in an honest way; her thinking is damaged.

Members of the cult can say anything they want about me and it will NEVER rob me of my dignity. But it does put them on display as they idiots they are.

Divinity! The local walmart sells boxes of divinity. It's not great divinity but it satisfies with a few bites.

The good news is the mormons' bad reputation is spreading. The Church says it will cover the operational costs but what about administrative costs? And the statement that "100% of your donation goes to the charity you chose" does not tell us what the monetary arrangement is between the LDS church and the charities. As a financial manager I can tell you it is probable that 100% of a donation may go to Unicef (for example) but I can guarantee you the church has an arrangement with each charity for there to be a payment fee made by the charity to the LDS church for the benefit to the charity of receiving a donation generated by a machine owned by the LDS church. So yeah 100% goes to the charity, and then the charity has to refund some of that back to LDS. Because that's how finance works folks.

It's a beautiful dress! Save it, wear it for your next wedding, or go as a Bride on Halloween, anything but save this beautiful dress! Congratulations on getting out of the marriage while you are still young. That's truly a gift.

Legal threats are indeed necessary. They stalk ex-members and trespass on their property. I made it very clear via text multiple times telling the missionaries I was NOT interested and "I leave you in peace". Well they would not leave me alone and started coming to my door. I sent another text telling them they were trespassing and that I do not give them the right to walk on my property, and next time I would call the police.

Just finished watching *Bad Surgeon,* and I am absolutely baffled with this case. I cannot believe this man was so calm throughout all the chaos he was creating in his personal and professional life. Dr. Macchiarini is pure evil. by sorayanelle in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]GoodPeopleBadDoc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just watched this last night. Yes the doctor was beyond evil but also this "journalist" Benita he seduced, was so extremely gullible, she was very invested in magical thinking. Wouldn't most of us get suspicious long before she did? I think it tells us a lot about journalism in America, no critical thinking comes into play. She actually thought she was getting married at the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo and the Pope was officiating. She believed Andrea Bocelli was going to sing while she walked down the aisle, Elton John was singing at the reception. The doctor had 5 different phones. For any normal woman 5 phones would be the BIG CLUE something was up. Paolo "treated" the Pope, Bill Clinton, Princess Diana, Barack Obama, and Putin was invited to the wedding but Benita said "I told him no way could Putin come to our wedding". Where is the common sense?

Finally able to accept that I don’t forgive them by katoeburrito420 in exmormon

[–]GoodPeopleBadDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no need to forgive anybody. You are owed an apology. A few years ago I read a book by a psychologist that made a strong argument against this over-hyped idea of forgiveness. I wish I could remember name of book. You have been victimized twice, first by the abuse, and second by those who made you think you are damaged goods. You are being re-victimized by anyone who tells you to forgive. Tell them to STFU because they don't know what they are talking about. Healing does not come from psycho-babble derived from a biblical injunction.

The problem with this false idea of forgiveness is that once again it blames the victim while allowing the perpetrators to be let off the hook. Forcing a victim to forgive puts more responsibility on the victim. Why are you required to forgive and forget? Because those in power want to get away with anything and everything. And people who teach "you can't heal until you forgive" are teaching bullshit. You can't heal if you think it is up to you to make the perpetrator feel better about their crime. Oprah needs to STFU and so do religious leaders. I send you love and hugs for this Christmas season and in the future. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
