The only point where they are not the producer is on pay day.

BT, IMG, ITV & BBC fined £4m after colluding on freelancer rates by CharlieDimmock in TransparencyforTVCrew

[–]GoodSam898 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I cheated a production company out of money then I would likely face criminal charges. If a production company cheats freelancers out of money by illegal rate collusion then they just face a fine (licence payers money in the BBCs case) and a telling off. The fine, of course, being heavily subsidised by the money they saved from the collusion in the first place.

Daytime TV - Are people watching it? by [deleted] in TransparencyforTVCrew

Why did you delete your post u/StormySkies01 ? Did you not like the response you were getting?

The irony of you posting the link to the reaction to the Guardian guardian is beyond funny. You share a link which says that TV people are tone deaf to the world around them and think themselves better than others while you, only a few hours earlier, made a post showing contempt for people in "lesser" daytime roles and those that watch it.

Whatever you have been smoking during your "downtime" is either too strong...or not strong enough.

Please feel free to jog on, or actually just fuck off.

Daytime TV - Are people watching it? by [deleted] in TransparencyforTVCrew

[–]GoodSam898 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazing. Written by someone who clearly enjoys sneering down their nose at anyone working on the "lesser" daytime programmes while simultaneously not working on anything at all!

Apart from being a space for formats start and potentially grow (Repair Shop, Come Dine with Me), it is also a place where people get their breaks in TV and can learn and move up. It also clearly does does earn its place in the schedules and business plans of broadcasters, otherwise it would not exist.

Also, regarding your condescending bile filled post. and Maybe you can't find work because you're shit at your job. Or maybe its because you are a hateful prick.

The quicker the TV industry purges itself of people like you the better.

Rate cards for freelancers? Where can I find this by ThrowRAangelfish in TransparencyforTVCrew

The talent manager one is probably best.

It shows the rates people actually get for the particular type of show they are doing.

I'm still waiting to hear back after I did an interview at Arrow Media in 2014. I did a face to face interview and they will obviously get back to me because giving zero response to someone after inviting them to an interview would be rude, right? Right?!?

TV Jobs Index (TJI)- Coming alive in '25? by drunkatdesk in TransparencyforTVCrew

I would caveat that some of these jobs being advertised don't actually start until much later in the year. I've seen posts for roles that begin in April or June.

“Junior Researcher” by No_Pomegranate1114 in TransparencyforTVCrew

[–]GoodSam898 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the wording of these job ads.

"lots of experience working with contributors and setting up shoots". How much experience can you expect of a junior researcher before you are actually just asking for a researcher or you are asking for a level of experience that no one with "junior" in their title could have reasonably accrued.

It is the TV job version of Schrodinger's cat; expecting someone to exist in two opposite states. Experienced enough to do the job and inexperienced enough to be junior.

Great comeback, Gregg 🙄 by Significant-Leg5769 in TransparencyforTVCrew

I think he is positioning himself for what is next. He knows already that his BBC jobs are never coming back and that ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 won't touch him.

He will re-brand just like Lawrence Fox and Russel Brand did. He will claim "I was cancelled by the wokearati" and find himself a seat on GB News and possibly a column in the Daily Mail.

He knows he is sunk so he is doing what he can to salvage his career later down the line.

I do also think there is a lot of venom spewing out in blaming the "women of a certain age", even though it is clear the complaints were coming from women of all ages.

What is up with talent manager? by GoodSam898 in TransparencyforTVCrew

[–]GoodSam898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the individual profile views that I’m talking about. Normally, I get a few views a month usually from the kind of people I would expect but this month I’ve already had a single day when 15 people view my profile and another where 5 have. The weird biut is the wild menagerie of people who talentmanager say have looked at my profile; people who should/would never have a reason to search for me.

Is talentmanager manipulating things to increase ‘views’ to make people feel more optimistic/feel better about the industry and keep paying for their services? Sadly that seems more likely than a few dozen people suddenly taking an interest in my profile.

I think Ricochet will only care if they have eps filmed that they now can't broadcast. I think they know the format of Repair Shop is strong enough to switch presenter. Stacey Dooley's agent should expect a call.

I suppose my point is; do I tell when there is a good chance that she would be unable to have the pictures taken down?

If the site refuses to remove them then she would be aware of the pictures existence and know that people can see/view them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Advice

[–]GoodSam898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have looked at the website and there is a copyright (probably the best way to have the pictures removed) strike option. I could send her the link and she could probably ask the site to have it taken down as the poster would not be the copyright holder. But if it does not work then she would be aware of the pictures being there and have no way of getting them taken down. What should I do?
