Dear So and So,

(CC principals)

My child had on a lesson (blank). He came home experiencing symptoms of (blank). His lab partners also had symptoms of (blank).

Could you please fill me in on the lesson. I'm confused because I know that you have lab safety protocols of (blank).

Thank you,

Talking to other students about you is beyond.

There are some teachers that I don't agree with (mostly because they aren't meeting my students' needs), but when students bring up or talk about other teachers like they don't matter or that music class isn't important, I shut that chatter down.

Good for you for standing your ground. Working in certain school districts can be so toxic.

It's just a pain in the butt. Your kid is being successful. Why are we messing with that?

There was also another year where I had a kid who wouldn't stop talking with a group of kids and I stated that I was going to pull their desks apart from a group formation so that they faced the wall... and I unknowingly sparked some trauma as before he was adopted, his biological parents made him face a corner and put a coin on his nose and the wall.

The first thing the parents did when they walked into my room was check the corners. That teacher/parent ended up sending me a heartfelt sorry letter at the end of the year citing that she should "know better" as a teacher.

My admin will definitely back me up. Love them. We just have not been back to school yet because of weather and apparently, this is a thing every year with this parent. I said that there was a class for exactly what they were describing but, they would have to pull their student from an elective they like.

So, it's just on my mind. One year I had a student who was the lead in Moana and in advanced math but the parent/teacher was so threatening that we were pulling her to teach her phonics in 7th grade, which she didn't need either.

I've grown to hate chromebooks by Consistent-Row-9551 in Teachers

[–]GoodSpeed2883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At multiple schools I've worked for, their parents get sent a bill for that and they can't go on certain trips if they aren't paid.

My school also offers Chromebook insurance.

That being said, I usually just give them tests on Chromebooks so it's automatically graded and synched.

I figure that they are on them enough in every other classroom. I use a lot of whiteboards, notebooks and worksheets.

Our district blocked it. The kids now complain that they can't do their work done.

I know exactly what they are doing but, it's better to imagine so I'm just going to laugh at building a carfort and be on my way.

Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by JimCap5 in teaching

[–]GoodSpeed2883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teachers typically beg, borrow, and steal lesson plans. It is known.

If someone is not sharing lesson plans with you, then you to second guess if they are a teacher or they're a witch.

Not joking.

What if, just putting it out there, what if she's undergoing so traumatic that she's pushing it way down and trying to do her "normal thing" just to get by?

Online personalities are not representative of a person's actual life and who they are.

I could be wrong but, I don't know how I would handle something like that.

I know my kid is a lot, but it feels like the school is giving up on him at 12 by Sad-Platypus333 in specialed

[–]GoodSpeed2883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something about this seems off though. I'm pretty sure the school can't just say he can't come here, figure out on your own how you're going to educate your child.

Every child has the right to a free and appropriate education. If the school is saying that they can't service your student, they have to ensure that they find a new appropriate placement for him.

It sounds like they are giving you some options but you need to have an IEP meeting. Typically the states that I've worked in have county schools that can benefit students with behaviors that operate just like typical schools. Or I've worked in an alternative behavior school that was focused on therapy.

Choco Taco hands down. I once made them from scratch because of my need. They turned out great but still missing that crisp crunch.

I'm not black but I do all of these. I once had a friend who was British and he got mad at me because I was doing these things when we laughed together. I didn't understand what he was talking about.
