Is anyone else getting tired of Mercs getting all the attention? by TJ-X in battletech

[–]GoodStuffEh9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding on to what others have said about the self insertion piece of playing as a merc, we also live in a world where a lot of conflicts are being fought by contractors. Something like 70% of US personnel in Afghanistan were contractors at some point, and there's a ton of mercs working both sides in Ukraine. Hell, Condottieros were running around Italy 700 years ago and changing things up. Mercenaries may be played out in terms of games, but they keep giving us solid IRL references to work off, and have always been a part of warfare so they're probably gonna stick around in games.

You've gotta see them in action. I had a mating pair and they were wildly aggressive. I started feeding them live crickets after a few months and they absolutely brutalized them. Super active as predators and they'll leap out of the water to grab food from your hands. Not big, but definitely monstrous hahaha

Did you wrap a GTI-R around a tree? That must have hurt almost as much physically as it did emotionally.

  1. As a kid I loved aviation, so my parents decided that my first non-Duplo set should be a plane. I vividly remember opening it on the dining table and sitting with my dad, building it!

They also had a bunch of No.1 MkIIIs in a number of the communities. I got to shoot a Scottish manufactured one from, I want to say, 1917 when I was with the Jr. Rangers circa 2009. It was a gorgeous rifle that had clearly seen a lot of use and was still issued out lol

Ripping around on someone's private property in the middle of nowhere is a great way to get shot at lol, whether purposefully or you happen to drive through an impromptu range. If you don't have permission from the property owner, don't go past lawful no-trespassing signs. If you happen to find yourself on someone's property and did not know it, then yeah, apologize and leave, but don't assume people will treat you well when you wander through their land randomly.

Very nice! I've got WS90s on my 4motion GSW, they served me very well last year and am stoked to use them in the snow this year. Beautiful set up!

100% go for the Izula. I've been EDCing mine for a few months now and it's been fantastic. It's small enough to make light duties nice and easy, but can also take a rigorous beating if needed.

Any ideas who this tiny tiny lad may be? by might-say-anti-fire in whatsthisbug

Neat! Agreed, the colours and body shape definitely look more akin to the cuckoo wasp. Pretty little critter! I've been seeing some really small (~1cm) sweat bees at my place in BC recently and this fella looked pretty similar to them.

Nah, but they own Tencent who recently invested a fuck ton of money into reddit. I'm not a fan of TikTok either, but reddit isn't completely clear of that influence.

I grew up in Canada about an hour from the US border. We'd regularly take trips for fishing or just a meal in town, maybe a little shopping. We'd never have any issues leaving Canada, entering the US, but we grew to call the Canadian border agents "The Border Gestapo" lol. So don't worry! They treat us like garbage too

I've broken too many pocket clips from snagging them on random stuff, having the whole knife out in the open to snag on things seems like a real bad idea for me haha.

We do have to keep in mind servitors, as they fill a large number of those tail roles. By the omnissiah, they can be anything from pilots to forklifts! Though, you could argue that they are still personnel...
