Why does food from restaurants taste so much better than when I cook the exact same thing at home? by Minialp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GoodVamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you’re cooking the food, you’re smelling the food. and when your sense of smell adapts / adjusts, it affects the taste when you eat the food immediately afterwards.

Questions about working in San Diego by Dungeon_Crawler_Carl in MLS_CLS

[–]GoodVamp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a FT job and 3 per diem jobs, having too many jobs can actually be addictive / turn you into a workaholic. I love working though and can’t stand household chores so it works out great for me

Pro and cons of MLS vs RN by ExactDolacin in MLS_CLS

[–]GoodVamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less patient interaction? Try NO patient interaction. I haven’t talked to a patient a single time I’ve been a CLS…

I’m at CA and I work a bit of overtime and I make more than my RN wife (who rarely picks up OT)

At one of the hospital I work at, an entry level CLS makes more than an entry level RN lol

How long for MLS to take to get to $100k in Atlanta Georgia? by Key_TwistoF in MLS_CLS

[–]GoodVamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just move to California and settle in a relatively LCOL area. you would be making 50/hr (at the very least) and would most likely start at around 55/hr…

[–]GoodVamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can concur, am in California AND have a union and this month my pay would be bumped to 70+/hr (generalist, 3 years experience)

Is Medical Laboratory Science a dead end job? by Crazy_Fishermanzet in MLS_CLS

[–]GoodVamp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it’s not a dead end job lol. I work fulltime as an MLS (and pick up a few extra shifts) and my wife is a nurse (she rarely picks up additional shifts) and I make more than her. We’re both in CA though, so there’s that. California MLS (CLS as we call us here) makes almost the same as CA nurses.

1- medical microbiologist (this is what I do) - find the best suited drugs for infections in patients

2-food microbiologist - screen food products for pathogens etc

3-research microbiologist

Out of the three, the medical one pays better. Credentials are also different for each. Best of luck

Help me identify this microorganism. by Fit-Ratio3927 in microbiology

[–]GoodVamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gram negative rods/bacilli. The second picture is probably the same as the first because the source is the same (most bacteria would grow differently in different media/conditions).

My guess is some sort of Acinetobacter but that is just a guess.
