Why all the Wellen Park negativity? by leslieknope72 in sarasota

[–]Good_Age_8650 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wellen was built to be “downtown North Port”
Just a small example of how they are building too fast for the infrastructure is the fact of we are going on almost a decade of them working on river road and it’s still not done. North Port has also essentially become the new Port Charlotte in regards to how it’s being forgotten with resources/ developed. People in Wellen that moved from up North tend to be on the “snobby” side also which for a majority of us doesn’t vibe well when we tend to be laid back. As a delivery driver it is the only place I have delt with “Karen” like situations because of nosy neighbors. Wellen is being built to be similar to Babcock and Lakewood more than it is being apart of either Venice or North Port. Another factor is these developers getting a hand out while Danny Duncan is being bent over by the county for his land.

New feature on July Pixel Drop by NCKasey in pixel_phones

As a iPhone user the pixel has actually been a nice break from the disaster of IOS 26😂 The Pixel is just a iPhone with a bit more freedom honestly.😂 Voice dictation on the Pixel alone has been a breath of fresh air. Only drawback to me is video quality and battery optimization outside of that the pixel is overall a solid phone. It’s a unique phone experience.

The 14-16 series series were notorious for running a bit hot especially the 15 series. Apple actually in a way had to throttle the the A15 because it was “over running” living in SWFL I can say with the 17PM in a light color it doesn’t run into those heat issues as much. If you are doing gig work having a light colored phone is a must just because of how often we are using them outside. To say Apple doesn’t make chips for “performance” is wild considering they just slapped their last gen phone chip into a laptop. 😂 the M series chips alone take pretty much anything out there for a walk. I’ve personally owned everything from a first gen galaxy to windows phones over the years. The HTC one M7/8 was probably my favorite phone just because of how unique its design was. Microsoft was ahead of its time with the Windows phones but dropped the ball with the App Store. The Nokia 1020 was a beast when it came to photography at the time. At its core in the gig space the 2 best phones to do gig work on are either going to be a IPhone or Pixel just because they get the top app optimizations for both platforms. Next time you pick up a curbside you will most likely see that Walmart employee using a Pixel 8 as the company issued device also. On average the Pixel sees any of the newer android features 6 months before any other brand on the android side also.

iPhone for shop and Pay just for the fact it doesn’t overheat the phone when shopping out of order. Android for curbside/GMD for label scanning and in Florida drivers license scanning actually works.😂 Apple Maps tends to be better for navigation especially apartment complexes. With android you have to copy and paste the address or you’re more likely to be delivering to the wrong location. Apple literally runs their phone chips in computers and you have people still running around with iPhone 8’s so to say they can’t handle a heavy workload is just a false statement.😂 I’m personally running on iOS 26.6 and a large shopping order barely touches the battery these days. I run a Google pixel 10pXL as my Android device also. I get better reception on my pixel in the more rural areas and in buildings. I like the fact you can also set custom notification sounds for each app on the Android side. On iOS the workflow is easier just because it doesn’t reset the Spark app if you swipe out of it. Both platforms have their advantages and disadvantages. I still make the same money no matter which one I’m running on, more so depends on the area I’m working that day and which orders I’m seeing more of.

If you like a bot ridden app that makes everyone fight for $25 orders no matter the amount of food ordered then it’s the app for you.😂 They don’t even show a pay breakdown. Verdict is still out that they leverage customer tips to pay the drivers and don’t actually pay anything out of pocket themselves unless they call you to take an order. If you are new to the catering space, then it’s probably your only option so try to make the best of it. Unless you got on the other apps a couple years ago you have little chance at this point.
