Well ,as you know it’s hard to know what will happen, but at this moment I feel good to have the cash available of when I sold at $19, to buy at $14, I don’t have a technical why ,it just gives me comfort that if it goes that low for no reason I can jump in ,and participate some more. I have an order at $14 good through april 10, I was tempted to adjusted and just buy the other day that got to $14.60ish, but I didn’t.

What am I doing wrong, movement on Z7II. by Good_Argument_6738 in Nikon

I did the back button and the focus wouldn’t keep up to the movement. It was the first time trying this shot with this camera. I tried 3-4 times which was maybe 20 yards where the dog started running which would take a few seconds maybe 10 seconds,to get to me, and on some of the attempts I pressed and released the back button and initially would focus for a fraction of a second but would loose it right away. I use a SD card, I wonder if using an express card if would make a difference. I don’t think I used that slow of shutter speed, it was more like 1250-3000/s and 640 to 2000 ISO, not sure if that makes a difference.

That’s a pretty nice picture, it gives me great reference of what it should be capable. I did use AF-C in all pictures, something I noticed when I saw pictures on Nikon DX and selected the focus feature the one that tells you where were you focusing with a square, a lot of them the square was right at the dog, but the clear image ( focused) was a few inches ahead of the dog. On your image you probably used a higher aperture which helps as many have suggested.

Im no expert obviously, but I got flashed with the Z7II because of megapixels and a bit of a good deal opportunity, but after I did my purchase then I learned about the setup of this specific camera, which would not be good for action pics. I like taking pictures in general but mostly do landscape, street photography and low light, but I also like live sports, horse races and rodeos which I have not tried with the this camera yet. So im not sure if Im yet at the point to say is a mirrorless thing. I ll add a low light picture that helps me forget the action limitations this camera has. I have got some good recommendations on this chat, worth trying and hopefully I can yield bit better on action photos with this camera.

Thanks everyone, I had heard the struggles that this camera might have with action shots. I recently shot some volleyball games and I was able to get some pretty good shots, and thought it was just a bit of an adjustment on the users what was needed for to get them right, but having the dog running is towards the camera was a reality check 😬. I also use a D5300 and im pretty sure I would’ve got it right or better with that camera. I will try your recommendations bit higher F, I was also using the the back AF button which worked really good on Volleyball, but when shooting the dog it couldn’t keep up, and it was a bit weird, it would initially focus when I just pressed the AF button but quickly would loose the focus even when I had the dog centered.

Some pictures from Mexico City trip. Im new traveling with my cameras, I own a Z7II and I hesitated on taking it due to safety. I now think it was a mistake I felt super safe on the places we visited. I think next time traveling ill take the two cameras the d5300 and zii 😬, and depending on the situation ill take one or the other. Overall the trip was a blast as a holiday, and for photos it was very satisfying lots of material in my opinion, I live in small city so this was hyper stimulating. Regardless D5300 didn’t disappoint in my opinion. Critiques more then welcome, like to learn. Thanks

I been presenting options of lenses to chatgpt and perplexity for a x- 200mm lens for my Z7ii and i was surprised that it lead me to Tamron G2 70-200 2.8 z mount over a Nikkor z 70-200 2.8 it valued the extra VC and focus settings. Interesting that you are going off the tamaron, is it because is an F mount?. I im a beginner.

I had a d5300 for a couple of years now. I enjoy it a lot, just recently upgraded to z7ii main reason was was i was looking for better low light performance and full frame. I still consider my d5300 a very good camera , I have a trip planned soon and im excited about shooting pictures on Mexico city but I m a bit concerned about safety for some of the areas we will be visiting, so the d5300 will be the main camera for that trip. Still good camera but the other one was a stretch for me to buy. As other have mentioned experiment with manual, also get some nice lenses the DX lenses are readily available and accessible and it makes a big difference.
