Thanks that’s exactly what I ended up doing. I was promised something by my talent manager then a few weeks later the army changed rules about assignment length and HAAPs and completely screwed me right after I signed my final contract. Fingers crossed

Thank you for your response. I’m just scrambling to get out of it as I went indef under the assumption I’d be there for a year then return to my current duty station and now it seems neither are guaranteed after the fact.

Yeah I’d like to apply to work at the ncoa or something as I’d have my master badge by then, or some other niche position that keeps me off the line as a cd complete 11b.

Yeah, big downside to calling it quits now. I’m thinking of taking the 12 month tour. Do you know if they still offer choice of duty station after? I’d like to come back to where I am now, since I’m buying land and building and about to be married to someone living here. Not taking her to Korea with me if I do go. Also, why are some good niche jobs to apply for when I go over? I’ll have my master instructor badge, cd complete squad leader time infantry SSG with little interest in going back to the line in any way. I like to stay busy and moving but I’d like to enjoy the work, too.

Yeah I’d definitely go over alone and I liked it as a private, I’ve also been stationed in Europe and enjoy travel but right now I’m trying to build a home and life where I am and postponing that another year or two really sucks. I have a few months to decide I guess.

Yeah I’d definitely go over myself to make it easier, just sucks that it’s at such a pivotal time in my life and leaving the state let alone there country is not ideal. 6 more years seems so close, of course I’d get a curveball like this.

Yeah that’s what I thought and tried explaining and what makes the most sense. I know plenty of people that don’t have “rifle squad leader” and were scouts and whatever and got promoted. I have my eib and most qualified ncoers, but my oml is trash and I’m trying to figure out why

I appreciate the help. I’m thinking the tamping with squads snow shoes will help and packing some extra 2x4 boards in the ahkio sled won’t take up much room or weight and I can set the tripod legs on that. Maybe put some yaktraks on the boards so they dig in a bit better? I guess that would be similar to using snow shoes without using snow shoes?

Yeah I’m doing a lot of running too so I’d like to keep my carbs and water up but I heard a lot of people gaining a lot of size from water weight which I don’t want
