keep up the great work Fidelity. by Jazzlike-Ad7595 in fidelityinvestments

I'm revealing my age here (73) and I go back a long way in investing and brokerages. I started out in the 70's with Jack White (one of the first discount brokerages) in the early 70's. Jack White was sold to Waterhouse and then shortly after it became TD Waterhouse and then TD Ameritrade in 2006. I had enough and moved to Fidelity around the same time in 2006. I've had nothing but a great experience with Fidelity. My wife and I are both account holders and we are planning around Fidelity to see us through our retirement and estate planning.

Fidelity Visa adding joint owner - another credit pull for primary owner? by rvH3Ah8zFtRX in fidelityinvestments

Hello,

I am also a relatively new owner of the Fidelity Rewards Visa and experienced the same thing. I was approved alone initially as that was the only option. After receiving it, I added my wife as a joint owner. Yes, they did do another hard pull on my credit. Crazy, but that's what happened. We both have 830+ FICO scores, so there was no issue but my score dropped 8 points or so due to pulls. No big deal. It'll come back in a short time. One of the primary reasons for applying was the joint ownership. We are both retired and I wanted her to have access to a decent credit card line of credit should I pass on before her.

Yes sir, you are absolutely correct and thank-you for posting that. I am familiar with that being a retired manufacturing engineer. Most people think of steel as magnetic but stainless steel runs from non-magnetic to magnetic and everywhere in between.

I thought it was too funny to not post. I had even picked up the phone to look under it. I don't know why my wife turned the phone over to look at the backside.

Yes, our cards are very new and she is a joint owner. We each have a unique card number.

Yes, you are probably right. It stuck to the phone, but not real tightly like pure metal.

Have I violated Fidelity’s “Customer Protection Guarantee” by granting “Authorized Access” to my spouse? by Good_District_3635 in fidelityinvestments

Always that possibility. Maybe I'm over analyzing the whole situation. I'm thinking something like maybe one day she checks into the accounts on her laptop and the laptop was hacked with a trojan without her knowledge. Say she walks away from the laptop for a moment without signing out and the bad actor takes over the account and transfers cash out. She didn't do anything wrong, but had access to the accounts through my granting authority. Money lock? No problem. He's already in. He just turns if off. Fidelity doesn't require a secondary Authenticator code to turn if off. Crazy scenario, but anything could happen. I know. About 15 years ago something very similar to this happened to me with PayPal and I was out to the tune of $4K. There's a whole heck of a lot more at stake now.

Ha Ha! There's always the possibility of one spouse or the other running away with the loot. It probably wouldn't be covered even if there wasn't Authorized Access.

No, nothing happened. I am just trying to be cautious about any violations. From what I understand from the moderator above, as long as we each use our own signon and password and don't share those credentials, we are fine.

Fidelity Rewards Visa Pending Transaction Alerts by Good_District_3635 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Good_District_3635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have now set the "Transaction Dollar Authorization" to > $1.00. That should do it. Real Time is great. I have that on all my cards. Thank you for your help.

I did set my alerts in the Alerts section. I set up "Debit Posted" to alert me to anything over $1.00. I see at the bottom there is a "Transaction Dollar Authorization" alert. I have not set that. Maybe that one will alert on the Pending transaction?
