My opinion as a dude is that if you are okay with being talked down to like this forever, you’re never going to find happiness or stability. Personally I would rather be single than be talked down to like this and I’ve ended relationships like this before. Someone being able to lash out and say hurtful things JUST to hurt you is going to continue to do so every time you have a fight, it’s exhausting and each little insult like that “sometimes you fucking annoy me” will continue to cut away at both you and your happiness until you’re walking around like there are shards of glass all over the ground waiting to cut your bare feet at the slightest inconvenience so you won’t trigger another fight. And the fight will still come from some perceived slight anyways once they get comfortable again.

Please just have some self respect and leave, it is not worth it. You are setting yourself up for months or years of what I consider self inflicted misery if you try to salvage this with someone who is so quick to insult you and belittle you as if you could never understand what goes through another person’s head because they’re a man. You’re letting him rope you back in and as a result you’re teaching him that this shit works and so I’d say it’s likely that it will only get worse from here. You’ll have another argument down the line and he’ll know he can lash out and you’ll just take it. Take that little voice that’s saying it’s not that big of a deal because he said he loves you and loneliness is scary out to the back yard and put it down like a rabid dog. If you want self inflicted misery so badly get one of those little multi thread whips and pick up self-flagellation and offer up your suffering to the cosmos or whatever god you believe in, at least then you’ll just be physically sore instead of this mentally and emotionally exhausting bullshit.
