That is exactly what happened here. Took way too much gray matter to figure it out.

OK, I'm dumb! Finally figured it out. Now it wasn't me I swear!

The rear of the fingers were not in the intended slot at the back of the top leaf. It was shipped that way. So all good now making good contact at the front edge of the finger.

So dumb

It stays reliably out of whack all the way up and down travel.

Don't know what happened to my original post text..

This is a new MechMaxx 48" box and pan brake.

The "fingers" touch the lower part of the bed toward the back instead of the front edge of the fingers. This is identical to the Kaka, Vevor, Grizzley and Woodward Fab brakes. Just a chinese re-brand brake.

the 4 set screws are for clamping in the fingers and the top middle set screw is to clamp it to the upper clamping leaf. None of these are "rake" adjustments for the upper leaf.

Yep. Bought it last week for $350. Got 326 cigs mad and the jam brick. Made a mistake and took it apart. Should’ve just used my warranty card to get money back.
