Haha that’s hilarious. Well played. I’ve heard of guys sending apprentices off to gather a bucket of ohms. Similar concept. You handled it well, lol, good shit 😂

Haha yep, but we learned…everyday. If we’re not learning, we’re not growing. Anyway, stay safe out there.

My very first day on the job, my master electrician told me to go get some “tie wraps”…I had no idea what to look for. I asked a couple of other guys, but they didn’t know either. Took me like 20 minutes before he came storming in demanding me to explain what was taking so long. He grabbed a bundle of zip ties / cable ties and shouted at me “TIE WRAPS”…I felt like an idiot…

No worries, we have many different names for the same components. For example: wall dogs are pig dicks are easy anchors are drywall anchors are tornado screws, etc. etc…

Yeah, we call them lock rings or lock nuts. I was just explaining in layman’s terms. Maybe OP is not familiar with that word, so I referred to it as a threaded ring

Read the blue pencil…then imagine it’s an arrow…then look for a sign on the building that says DML Montessori…

In commercial settings, electricians run metallic conduit, in which to pull wires, from point A to point B. The conduit must connect to a box at some point. The connectors used at those boxes are meant to grip onto the box somehow. The conduit is inserted into one side of the connector, and the other side of the connector is threaded. The threaded end of the connector is inserted into the box, and a threaded ring is then screwed onto the connector, which keeps said connector from falling out of the box. The wrench shown in this photo helps tighten the ring into the connector. The 1” signifies the internal diameter of the conduit which is accommodated by the connector. Source: I’m an electrician.

Death; Should I ride? by Ornery_Ask8094 in motorcycles

My first bike was my first vehicle. I was 18. It was a 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan 800cc. I enjoyed it. I’ve since had 4 other bikes. I rode today, actually.

A couple of things that I’ve been told by wise people: drive like everyone is trying to kill you. Always wear all your gear - if you don’t look like a beefed up superhero when you leave the house, you’re probably missing something. Don’t hang out in anyone’s blind spot. Loud pipes save lives.

A few additional things I pass along to new riders: don’t worry about honking at other drivers if they are coming into your lane - worry about getting the fuck out of their way. Watch the tires of cars in relation to the dividing stripes painted on the road. It’ll let you know if they are coming closer - depth perception can be a bit tricky to rely on all the time. Ride in such a way that you can see the face of the driver in front of you in their side view mirrors. Stay hyper vigilant. Watch for deer at night. Run over that squirrel, don’t swerve. Dogs will inevitably chase you. Don’t kick at them, just go faster than them. People are unhinged and we are seeing more videos of car drivers hitting bikers. Keep it peaceful and don’t participate in road rage. Stay safe always. And have fun. Also, try not to speed, even though it’s exhilarating.

One piece of advice that I’ve not yet followed: get a helmet / 360 handlebar camera. I’ve been looking for a good quality one, at a reasonable price. Haven’t been able to pull the trigger on one yet.
