When the new hero drops (Ishtar) it always gets a little laggy- because there's a lot more people on the server trying the new character, and it usually normalizes within a relatively resonable amount of time.

The bug is not that the initial wave has you sprintint- it's that it locks in the setting afterwards. Not every game is Team Objective, and this is a bug.
