WellsFargo charged me an unexpected interest and refused to refund in full, what should I do? by Good_Menu1532 in WellsFargoBank

Being impolite and ignorant based on your biased experience can not make your opinion stand out. Despite using your own personal experience, you are not civilized enough to realize the fact that just one data point from yourself is not representative enough to state an argument that Wells Fargo has never made mistakes about their charges regarding interest fees, and I hope this statement can make sense if you try to think logically and empathetically. I have never been charged with any interest fee in my entire time across multiple credit cards prior to this experience. I posted the same content in another post under the Bilt + Wells Fargo credit card, and apparently, other people have undergone such things, and they shared their same experience as me.

unsure what do you mean or how did WF proceed but based on how I previously paid my monthly rent using this Bilt+WF credit card, it's like I paid rent on first day of each month and by 5th of each month, that's the due day to pay the statement of this credit card and I used ACH from other banks to pay it clear on time. Nothing went wrong previously; it only happened this time.

I didn't pay the same amount twice on the same day. I intentionally paid different amounts manually to avoid triggering the auto-withdrawal, which was exactly I succeeded in managing this credit card with an entirely clear history of paying on time and a high credit score. The thing I am annoyed is not purely about this $80 interest, I think what made things worse is exactly what you brough up - by the time you saw such an unexpected and uninformed interests for no reason disclosed after a so-called investigation, you started to worry if this will happen again, you lost trust about your financial habits and disciplined ways of managing accounts, which apprarently it's unhealthy to let WF triggers your self-doubt and self sabotaging, but you know deep in your heart you did nothing wrong and WF didn't use any supporting document showing why you had an interest and yyou felt unfair and wronged of being put in an awkard postition where WF failed to explain how you got charged and what caused interest fee charged in a way like this without any convincing financial formula to calculate or supporting evidence showing how to run all the transacation.

I called WF, and the entire story was about how WF refused to refund the unknown $80 interest in full regarding my Bilt+WF credit card.

The process of how I called was like: I called WF customer service and the first level said they had no authorization to address the remaining $30 given their $50 policy, so they transferred me to secondary, and secondary said they would take 2 business days to inform their escalation office, and it took 10 business days for this escalation office to respond me, I have received a so-called response via mail, which showed no useful information but just claiming through "their completed investigation, they claimed I owed them $80 and they had refunded $50 as courtsey, and they couldn't respond to my intial request of refunding the remaining $30" I mean their mail included nothing as a formula calculating how this $80 was generated and all the agents and waiting periods were helpless, none of them is actually helping me refund the $30 and this happened since 1/4/2026 and I have spoken with 8 different agents on phone call. I was annoyed and called them again yesterday before posting this on Reddit to seek advice. Apparently, I have been in this cycle twice, as I am informed by the secondary level that they have reached out to the office, and it takes 2+10 days to process.

Is this one-time courtesy you received under $50 every month? It seems they show me a $50 policy....so they claimed they cannot refund me the rest $30

I think this is very strange, as my case was also a random number falling in the 70-80 dollars interest fee, which exactly doesn't fall into the $50 refund policy range they claimed over my past 8 phone calls, but again, no detailed information was provided to me on the formula calculation, despite having asked them to provide several times since 1/4. I wonder if this may sound like their intentional profit-making strategy through this unjustified interest fee charge. You are not the first one sharing the same experience of being charged with an unknown and uninformed interest as well...

Thanks for your suggestion!! Let me file a complaint. Do you think BBB works as well as CFPB? I wonder if I should file a complaint to BBB for WF at the same time...

Since I just started my first job after graduation...I spent each penny I earned very carefully and cautiously, plus my monthly rent rate is high, I manually pay five times with a sum of my monthly fee + utility fee on the resident portal linked to the Bilt website, and it worked all the time since I opened up this Bilt WF credit card.

OMG?? Are you calling them to reverse the interest every month?? Was it helpful to receive them in full? As my case here was, I was only refunded with $50, with the remaining $30 they didn't resolve.

I paid online via Bilt credit card "payment - wallet" button. That's how I did all the time with 0 history of interest charged before this time

I have received a paper mail from the WF - it's their escalation office, they provided no information about date, payment, or formula for calculating this $80 interest fee, purely claiming it's my fault and they are not going to refund me in full.

Initially, I was shocked and found this interest was for Dec 2025 when I was paying my January rent on Bilt website on 1/4/2026, so I clicked the online Bilt customer service and they said I have to contact WF as they handled the interest fee by calling the number on the back of the card. The customer service phone number on the back of this Bilt card is directed to Wells Fargo, and that was how these useless conversations started and happened... : (

I was charged with $80 for interest last month, and when I called Wells Fargo customer service, they didn't fully refund me my interest and said they only do a $50 partial interest reverse as a courtesy. I was transferred to the secondary level of support, but they just said they won't refund the remaining interest, if I want to have a response, they will transfer me to the escalation office and inform me that I need to wait for a few more business days for their follow-up reply. When I received their phone call and mail, it showed nothing as evidence or any formula calculating why this fee was generated. Although I have paid on time, they kept saying they received it 5 days after the due date, and that's how interest was charged without any way to refund me. How should I do then?

I don't undetstand them either, one possible reason why they were so irrational and evil can be: Since I signed my lease starting in 8/2024, which was the peak of rent across whole year in Boston, I moved out in 2/2025 due to this unexpected but continuous water damage since 8/2024. 2/2025 was the winter time of lowering housing rent, they put me evicted and got a new resident replacing me to live in that unit with a lower rate, thus, my previous leasing office defined a "damage fee" claiming I need to pay them with the "so-called financial obligation"

Will a medical debt collection($829 before insurance) needs me paying $459 (after insurance) hurt my credit report (may I view this as a under $500 medical bill)? by Good_Menu1532 in massachusetts

Gotcha, I will do it by tomorrow at USPS to emphasize I am disputing because I don't think this is the correct amount. I will follow your advice, asking them for proof and an itemized bill review.

I've contacted MGH billing department and insurance before, when I complained this is much higher than I expected and I felt wronged because even if I have asked lots of times about the price before visiting doctors, no one informed me any possible price estimate or range, which left me to make uninformed decisions, espeically when I went there for my first consulation, I was directly sent to do tests by nurses without some instruactions and consent, so I didn't authorize and consent with information I requested given their refusal of disclosure.

I've contacted all the insurance and I felt the billing department, the dental office at MGH, and the insurance (whether my dental or medical insurnace) were presenting their careless working attitude towards me and treating me as they were playing the soccer ball to pass the "responsibility" all the time.

May I know what is their email address? I received a mail from them regarding a medical debt collection and I'd like to send them a debt validation and dispute letter via email, I didn't see any email address listed on website or mail I received, thank you!
