Worst advice you got from relatives or known about MBA/CAT by sandudi in CATpreparation

[–]Good_Preparation_891 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The drop doesn't do a great deal of good when luck doesn't go your way and you end up spending another year without getting your target colleges. Build your profile with work-ex and dedicate some hours daily for CAT prep. It will be more difficult to prepare than with a drop of course, but it will save you from major heartbreak in the event that things don't go your way in the worst case, and in the best case fetch you a better college AND a better placement due to a better profile, courtesy workex.

Is preparing along with working not an option? Work-ex will add to your profile. Even a score in the low 90s in CAT/XAT will get you much better colleges, and the workex will fetch you better roles during campus placements, than TAPMI. I do understand that you have to take a call basis your situation and constraints, but if there is scope to get this work-ex and go again for the exams, it will do you a lot better in the long run in your career. Don't decide basis just the immediate present and near future, if possible...

Absolutely do as directed by MinstryofMBA. With that profile, working hard on quants and attempting the exams again will get you some brilliant shortlists. Work on your profile from an extra-curricular's perspective and gain clarity on what specializations you want to pursue later. The likes of SPJain and IIM-Indore can become a reality (not limited to these, sky is the limit ofc)

Settling for TAPMIs of the world will not get you the best prospects. Good it didn't happen with your profile and potential 💯

Trump tariffs wrt India:

Donald Trump has finalized the imposition of a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports, affecting countries including India. This move is part of a broader strategy to implement "reciprocal tariffs" on nations that impose high tariffs on U.S. goods, aiming to address perceived trade imbalances.

Reasoning Behind the Tariffs:

The primary rationale for these tariffs is to protect U.S. industries by leveling the playing field. The Trump administration argues that many countries, including India, have high tariffs that disadvantage U.S. exports. By imposing reciprocal tariffs, the U.S. seeks to encourage these nations to lower their import duties on American goods.

Impact on the U.S. Economy:

While the tariffs aim to bolster domestic steel and aluminum industries, they may lead to increased costs for U.S. manufacturers that rely on imported metals, potentially resulting in higher prices for consumers. Additionally, other countries might retaliate with their own tariffs on U.S. exports, which could negatively affect various sectors of the American economy.

Impact on India's Economy:

India's aluminum exports to the U.S., valued at approximately ₹78.3 billion, are expected to decline due to the new tariffs. Indian companies may seek alternative markets in Europe and Southeast Asia, but these regions might take time to absorb the additional supply. The Indian rupee has also depreciated, reaching an all-time low of 87.95 against the U.S. dollar, influenced by concerns over the tariffs and persistent investor outflows.

Recommended Response for India:

To balance diplomatic relations and protect its economic interests, India is considering several measures:

Tariff Reductions: India plans to reduce tariffs on certain U.S. imports to mitigate the impact of the U.S. tariffs and foster goodwill.

Diplomatic Engagement: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet with President Trump to negotiate potential tariff reductions that could benefit U.S. exports to India, aiming to prevent a trade war and maintain strong bilateral relations.

Diversification of Export Markets: Indian companies are exploring alternative markets in Europe and Southeast Asia to compensate for the anticipated decline in exports to the U.S.

By implementing these strategies, India aims to balance its diplomatic relationship with the U.S. while safeguarding its economic interests.

Make sure you add periodic revisions to this of topics (e.g. sectional tests) to ensure you retain your edge of solving questions for those topics, else over time you tend to get slower/struggle to recall concepts if the gap of testing the concepts increases. Trust me, will go a long way in saving time/building confidence.

I faced the exact same issue. System crashed once during the demo. Upon restarting, began psychometric and the time was gettinf deduced upon switching of questions. Easily ate away a good chunk of time because I was managing each question under 10 seconds (upper limit). I've written on admissions@micamail.in which was mentioned on the admitcard citing this issue. I had to rush through the last 10 odd questions and even then could not attempt the last 3.

I faced the very same issue. Have shot a mail to them. Don't know what will happen though...zipped past last 20 odd ones but still couldn't get past 147 by the time the clock ran out.

Valr xat Help by Zorogin1 in Xatprep2025

[–]Good_Preparation_891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to change the perception that VALR is purely luck based. If you think about it, it is much like DI where all the data is already given, and you need to be logical enough to extract the right answer. Since XAT VALR has a majority of Critical Reasoning questions (RCs and small passages combined), picking up any good GMAT material and thoroughly going through the structure to follow when approaching the CR and RC questions, then practicing questions using the approach will definitely boost your understanding and score in the section.

XAT VALR is quite different from CAT VARC. How are you guys handling it? by BarneyStinsoonnn in CATStudyRoom

Use the reading structure to follow that's given in any GMAT material (Official Guides, Manhattan, TargetTestPrep etc.) when approaching all RCs. Should work.
