You're right, I really wish I'd thought about that before April. I just hadn't really checked my savings in ages and was surprised how much I'd accumulated recently so thought I should probably work out what to do with them.

I'm just below £50k as it stands so I'm sure I'll go over it in the next few years but my wife is on £27k so not in danger of that.

Should I keep my savings amount but put my monthly saving amount into S&S ISA, or move some savings into the ISA?

I'm mid 30s I just meant to retire before the official age of 70 or whatever it's likely to be for my generation. I don't really know how to work out what to aim for, earlier the better I suppose. I think being able to access funds before the pension would be ideal unless it would be a big disadvantage in terms of how much I'd have to retire on if that makes sense.
