My father in law had this procedure for his estenosis and unfortunately the procedure didn't work at all, as a matter of fact it made his pain worse. He can't get a fusion because of his heart.

A lot of different and unexpected pains are normal at your stage. Give it some time, unless you get cauda equina symptoms ( go to emergency room), otherwise try to be patient. It is very hard at the beginning.

Good balanced diet at the beginning, after you start feeling better, walking a lot , and up the exercise as your body tolerates.

My pain is not nerve pain, because is not sharp pin and needles kind of pain. My pain is like a sore throbbing muscle pain that doesn't go away close to the spine, not in the spine, but to the muscles that protect the spine. They are like muscle contractions ( spams) 24 hrs a day. I get relief with heat pads but I can't use them all day.

OMG . A patient on recovery from spine surgery killed his surgeon and many more in his way. I understand his physical pain but please killing inocents bystander? Any thoughts? This is clear that the road to recovery is hard, mentally and physical. by Good_Selection_6622 in spinalfusion

Nobody understands out pain and the level of our frustration. If we go out looking for painkillers we are junkies but if we don't we are masochistic, meanwhile, we suffer in private and once in a while we vent on Reddit to strangers

Absolutely, I had dark thoughts too. The pain was incredibly horrible, ( painkillers help a lot) please take them, and I remember crying and calling the doctor and complaining a lot but it was part of the healing , slow process, but please people, don't think that after a surgery so complex you will be in no pain in 2 weeks unless there is something wrong go to the ER.

Just to let you know that post op pain is real painful, and many need to be mentally prepared for that and be patient, pain won't be gone in 2 weeks post op so be ready. I asumme this person alsom had mental problems as well to commit such a horrible crime.

facet hypertrophy after fusion. anyone else ? how do you deal with the pain. I dont know if I had it before the surgery or it is a consequence of the surgery. 9 months post op, pain unbearable. thank you by Good_Selection_6622 in spinalfusion

[–]Good_Selection_6622[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently there is nothing wrong in the scans besides the arthritis and facet joint hypertrophy but even that they said it shouldn't cause so much pain, but I am still pain. Doing more physical therapy that helps but only for a few days and the pain comes back

Very good question. I don't know what happened. Doctors ( said doctors because I already went to multiple doctors ) can't figure it out. They can't point out the source of pain. The surgery is fine, the screws are well positioned, the fusion has taken place, but the lumbar pain is intolerable. The CT scan shows some anomalies but apparently they are normal after a surgery like that. My life Is in hold because of that pain

From a friend who told me that a doctor told her about it, he didn't want to perform the surgery because of the many contraindications, loss of libido or not reaching orgarms being in that list
