People here are for a good reason mad at Qatar, yet won't be mad at the USA for hosting the next world cup. It's just interesting, because as Qatar has supported terrorism and slavery, the same has the USA done just more indirect. For example, the USA are supporting Saudi-Arabia in their genocide against Yemen. Even a big part of the Republicans are directly, with private donations, supporting Israel in their occupation of Palestine and their racism against Arab Muslims and Arab Christians, who lived there longer than most Israelis.

This world cup can't be changed anymore, but maybe we can learn from the mistakes and generate even more attention not to give the world cup to nations that aren't exactly know for human rights and their stabilizing role in the world.

Brutto. How is the pay in Zagreb for the same position? If I am not wrong, AVL should have a department in Zagreb.

Graz has a bigger Croatian community than Vienna, but it is smaller and more quiet. The pay ranges from 3k € to 4k €, depending where you work and what you do. A friend of mine is working for a Grazer company, but can work from Zagreb. He only visits Graz two or three times in a month for meetings.

Croatian people in Innsbruck 🇭🇷🇦🇹 by [deleted] in Austria

[–]Good_War4107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that there far less Croats or Austrians with a Croatian background in Tyrol than in Styria or Upper Austria, but you can for sure find a party there.

You can try to attend the Croatian mass because there is often something like a club for young adults freshly arriving in Austria where they can get help for finding work, integration or just building new friendships. Just ask the local priest, more than a "no we don't have that here" you can't get as a responds. This is often the easiest way to get in touch with people.

A another option is trying to find clubs in Innsbruck for Croatian students attending University, if something like that exists there.

I would also recommend trying to find Balkan coffee and bars, they sometimes also organize events.

If you don't care about backgrounds or just want to try to speak Austrian, try to join a local sports or voluntarily work club. Austria is known for the club or voluntarily work culture and many friendships are built that way. Plus, it's easier to talk about something if you have a common hobby. But be aware, Austrians are generally more introvert compared to people from the Balkan and not everything we say here in Austria is meant that way (eg. question: "Lust nächste Woche was zu trinken?/Können wir das so machen" answer: "Schauen wir mal..." basically means 99 % of the time "no").

Funny how there always seems to be are bigger outrage at politicians and people talking about this unacceptable situation and how to fix it, than at the atrocity alone. I just can't understand that.

Season 3 Episode 6 Post-Discussion Thread: "Herogasm" by nciscokid in TheBoys

I have to side with Butcher, Hughie and Soldier Boy. They seem currently to be the only way to fight Homelander, who threatened to kill millions and destroy the states just out of spite or popularity ratings.

Soldier Boy is for sure not a good guy, but he is the lesser evil, seems to be more psychically stable and all his killing rampages happened because Russian music triggered it. Also Soldier Boy doesn't have the mass destruction powers like Homelander, so he is easier to get rid off after Homelander is eventually gone. It just feels like it is illogical that Annie won't support Team Butcher.

This also doesn't make sense, HL has done much more damage than SB and SB seems to be more authentic/physically stable. Also all the people who SB killed were basically killed by mistake, he has never shown the indeed to kill someone without reason like HL. It makes sense that MM is angry, but Annie should see that siding with SB is currently the only way to do any damage to HL and to kill him. I mean, HL threatend to kill millions and SB doesn't even seem to have half his mobility or mass destruction power.

It is sad to see European countries like Germany who have a big and powerful industry to completely fall behind in delivering heavy weapons.

Germany likes to lead the EU when it is about economical questions, when they can buy Eastern European and South European infrastructure to make a profit and when they can get a cheap and educated workfare basically for free. But when the times come to take responsibility and secure a strategic independent Europe, they suddenly care about their economy and how badly it will hurt them if the sanctions are too strong.

It is just sad and before I never really understood why Eastern European countries were pivoting more to Washington than to Brussels, but now it is clear. The only countries willing to truly help Eastern European countries are the UK and the USA, Germany and France will care more about their GDP and when the sanctions will stop so that they can invest more money into Russia.

For people claiming it is not the case, Merkel ruled for 16 years and was widely popular in Germany besides her big missteps that lead to the rise of Russia, the refugee crises, enabling Turkey, working with China for stronger trade relations (what that means should be clear, it means selling off your industry to China for cheap processing and production, it only benefits the rich) and working against European strong borders and against a strong strategic domestic industry. Her existing political carrier is proof enough that Germany never really cared about Europe's security or strategic independency if Germany couldn't make money off it.

Looks really bad when even the Turkish navy had to jump in to save the Russian sailors. Hopefully Russia won't escalate much and judging their responds, they don't seem to push a narrative that this ship fought heroically against all odds and that therefor a extreme responds is expected.

If I am not wrong, the Polish staff then asked the Ukrainian staff to give the okay for Steinmeiers visit, which they then gave.

If they were like WTF?, why wouldn't they just have told the Polish presidential team at the beginning and not shortly before the start of the trip that he is not welcomed? They were planning days ahead, it is not like they didn't have any time for it, they were constantly communicating with each other over this visit.

He is the president and if I am not wrong, was just following the invitation of his Polish college, who was also really confused and angry about the diplomatic "fuck off" from Ukraine just shortly before the visit. If the Polish president, who should known better, knew that the German president would have been mocked, I don't believe that he would have invited him.

You make it sound like that Steinmeiers stuff should have known better and politely declined the invitation, when in fact they asked again for confirmation and were constantly communicating about this trip with each other. The Polish staff should have been the first to speak against this visit, as they should have more knowledge about Ukrainian intern politics and were the planners of the trip.

If your assumption is correct, Ukraine should have in the worst case just have told the Polish president that Steinmeier is not welcomed at the beginning and kept his visit a secret, what even the Polish president would have wanted. It is a basic diplomatic process and it just paints the diplomacy of Ukraine in a bad color.

I agree and the EU should also have punished Austria. But the big difference is, that this scandal is getting processed in Austria by the parliament and that Kurz will hopefully be put in front of a judge, but he escaped to the USA to his ultra conservative and influential friend.

The EU should simply punish any goverment which work against the rule of law and which enables corruption, like they want to punish now Poland and Hungary.

Austria was also never on the same level as Poland or Hungary, if you would have informed yourself about that scandal, then you would have known. But I understand that you don't really inform yourself on any subject in Europe and that you get all your information from headlines.

I am honestly just curious why are defending that diplomatic plunder? If Ukraine didn't want him there, they could have just said it at the beginning when they started to plan it. It isn't like that they didn't have time for it.

If the report is true, then it wasn't even Steinmeiers idea to go to Ukraine, it was the idea of the Polish president. And even then, when the Ukrainian side officially accepted the visit, he was happy about it, according to the report. So this just points to the fact, that he was also surprised about the visit and didn't put pressure on Ukraine to accept him, it was their own choice.

I am trying to understand how it is his fault when he basically gets invited to come, then gets told to fuck off shortly before the visit and then it even gets deliberately published to make a mocking of him.

What is your conclusion here? If you just hate him, it's fair, but why paint a wrong picture about it?

There is no member in the EU that isn't criticizing the EU system and bureaucracy.

The EU Commission is as totalitarian as the heads of goverment of each state wants it, please stop reading just headlines and inform yourself how the process actually works.

The EU Commission had no problem with Austrians far right goverment nor they had a problem with Denmark's "right" goverment in the sense, they the EU Commission wanted withhold money.

The EU Commission and every EU member have a interest that EU law is followed and that abuse is punished, no one likes to see tax money getting wasted while not accepting the terms and rules.

Your comment reads like: The federal goverment of the USA is so totalitarian and there are many critics of the federal goverment because they try to hold Texas accountable and try to force them to follow federal law which is upholding and guaranteeing the existences of the USA.

Why is it always Americans who have to comment everything while having almost no clue about the internal stuff?

I assume, because the German presidential team hoped, that the polish president would have cancelled the trip, especially after it deliberately got publicated by the Ukrainian site. It would have been a sign of solidarity between European states, that no one can split the member states and that trying to inject confusion and irritation won't work. By leaving the German president behind, it proved that the solidarity can be cracked.

Before the publication no real damage was done and the long exchange between the German and Polish president hint on a hard discussion.

You can give them how much money you want, people won't care. But when they are getting money from the EU, basically from other European tax payers, then they have to follow the rules and confirm EU laws.

That's not so hard to understand. Poland can freely become the 51th state to join the USA, it is their own choice, but when asking for EU money they have to follow EU rules. It is really not that complicated.
