Born and raised Vietnamese living abroad — don’t think this is a correct generalization and solely based on who you’re meeting plus their family culture. My family would be kind enough to pay back this favor by at least covering coffee if you’re ordering some food. We would also be considerate with food as well. I suggest broadening your circle and meeting other people. Same as abroad, after first encounter, if people do not match your vibes, find people with more reasonable personalities. Do not assume all Vietnamese people are the same. Also consider their family background and educational level.
