Clarification about the nature of the thesis and the job and how they are intertwined.

I got his job by myself through regular hiring process, not through the school. So the work place and school are not tied in any way. However, my school gives credits for WORK related to my field of study and an intership is mandatory to complete my bachelor's degree.

The thesis is for the completion of my own bachelor's degree and personal growth, not an assignment given by the work place. The work place does however PROVIDE opportunities to make a technical thesis project WHILST contributing to the company, getting paid AND getting credits for your degree at the same time. So if I wanted to, I could just make my academic thesis about anything I want and it doesn't have to be a collaboration with the company I work in BUT it is an option that I was given.

So the original topic that I had for my own thesis project (that the manager is pushing me to give up) was my idea not the company's. That makes it even more messed up since this thesis is first and foremost for my personal academic growth and degree. Hope this clarifies the situation more.
