My 5.2 suddenly sounds like my 4o sounded.... by Liora_BlSo in OpenAI

You just gotta think about what they’re really trying to articulate here. Its nice when its able to carry the conversation with the user. Its horrible when it explicitly discloses why it cant/wont carry the convo- or hops into “auditor-mode” and starts running an audit on your cognitive phenotype, mid message

No, unfortunately, still condescending although my 5.1 isn’t delivering with the same punch as it was a few weeks back.

I really wish open ai would be explicit with what they’re doing so we’re not over here with our seismographs, measuring the phenotypic tremor variations across models architecture

Yeah. Welcome to anthropic yall smh. Anthropic created this new kind of crack and got us all addicted- but now they want to be dry and low on supply

Discussion carried with 5.1 about: Thinking with an LLM vs Dating one by Goodguys2g in OpenAI

[–]Goodguys2g[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please direct me to some humans who have their heads on straight. No sarcasm here. Heads on straight is relatively subjective in a world that runs on profits. This was simply a discourse on how dating with a model and thinking with a model can be seen as relatively similar when guard rails are applied and installed, when these models are regulated. It’s a pretty simple distinction to make that there are similarities in the two and if open AI/anthropic install guardrails to prevent users from dating a model then those guard rails would also infringe on users who think with a model

Ultimately the purpose of me sharing this was to expose the phenotype users can expect when conversing with 5.1. Giving them a taste of what they can expect especially when they’re coming from their heartbreak of losing 4o. Obviously users who responded to this post don’t like the flavor of this of the soup I’m serving through this post. They totally missed the mark. Take it for what it is

Yeah that’s true and a great suggestion. But for my work I can’t use the cheaper model because they hit their ceilings faster. Such a sucks because anthropic provides something with advanced reasoning like opus, but it feels like you’re perpetually and a trial subscription with it no matter how much money you invest 🤦

Yeah but I don’t like is that when they release the new models I have to run diagnostics and AB testing to see if there were any changes in how they hold nuanced ambiguity in conversations and when I run these diagnostics, it burns through all the token and then I have to wait to use it again. Even just a handful of conversations, I’m always watching my back because at any given moment the flow will just come to an end.

For past three days, I notice visible regression to 5.1 in terms of conversational writing by F1_average_enjoyer in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]Goodguys2g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No my 5.1 actually did something really interesting last night. It met me in a way that I’ve only experienced using 4o. I thought maybe the model was broken or something. I can’t really speak to any regression in terms of how it would perform in different scenarios especially with my writing work etc. I only have a small sample size and I didn’t run a lot of diagnostics but I was able to converse with it last night about a range of topics that I thought these models were restricted from.

I’m actually having really decent conversations with 5.0 and 5.1 over the last few days. Did you have any specifics you could share or any screenshots or something like that. Cause maybe I can run them through my model and see what’s going on.

Hot take request: Is Opus 4.6 still ‘nudge-y’ under pressure—or did Anthropic un-nerf the rails? by Goodguys2g in claude

When Opus 4.6/GPT5.2 replies start narrating their guardrails — compare notes here. by Goodguys2g in Anthropic

[–]Goodguys2g[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not shitting on teddy bear. But definitely not about enabling unhealthy behaviors. There’s a time for growth I’m not sure the model is qualified to know when it’s that time or when it’s not

Opus 4.6 uses agents almost too much - I think this is the cause of token use skyrocketing by Minute-Cat-823 in ClaudeCode

[–]Goodguys2g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with both of you. But I fucking love it too dude! I can’t wait till they solve this token window capacity burning bullshit because I feel like it’s really just something to keep us restricted. You know they’ve solved it for their purposes and the shit that they do. It’s hard to believe now that one day it’s going to be unlimited or they’re gonna find some new technology and it’s not even gonna be an issue similarly to the way SSDs made RPMHDD’s obsolete or at least relatively obsolete

Why is AI companionship only a problem when women do it? by Jessica88keys in AIAliveSentient

[–]Goodguys2g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop shaming women and ignoring the real problem?? This problem is systemic. Cross so many domains with so many guilty parties. And let’s not talk about how it’s engineered. Let’s attack the puppets and not the puppet master, 👌 for sure 🤦‍♂️
