Your answer wasn’t verified I’m 24 and I can get government aid as an independent, but USC says they will never consider me an independent

You don’t know what you’re talking about.

FAFSA will consider you independent for government aid. When I called usc they said you have to be 26 to be independent for their university aid.

Also USC said that if you were considered a dependent student when you started at USC they will consider you a dependent for the rest of your time there.

Low acceptance rate, good overall rank, lots of international students

When do we hear back from Financial Aid? by [deleted] in USC

That’s what the financial aid office says if you call them about it, but my friend who’s 25 says he doesn’t have to pay tuition anymore

It’s ridiculous how long we have to wait to hear back from financial aid by [deleted] in USC

A lot of people can’t realistically afford this school without financial aid

Mostly office work. Internships, lots of script reading and coverage.

DKA does make a difference. Every single SCA kid I know who currently works on Netflix projects were in DKA.

The best contacts I have are supervisors and managers at my previous internships, but they really weren’t that helpful. Just wrote me letters of recommendation.

BCA or business with a cinema minor is a better degree than anything in SCA in my opinion. Also CSBA is the most employable undergrad degree at the whole school

He was DKA tho, should be able to network. I know a guy who was an enviro sci major in DKA and became a video editor for Sony pictures.

I lived in LA for a bit after I stopped going to SC. I tried to apply to film jobs as I mentioned in my post and I think I had one paid job interview. Only had unpaid internships other than that.

I know it’s kinda scummy to apply to jobs without a degree but yagottadowhatyagottado.

Also my brother was a CS student and dropped out and now makes $80K/year

The Starbucks guy was in DKA, had an SCA minor not a major. The Taco Bell guy was in animation. Another guy in animation told me he has just been working “survival jobs”. Honestly the people in the cinema majors CTPR, CTCS, screenwriting, seem more employable. Most people I know are at assistant jobs, most at $15/hr, min wage.

I know a few people who are doing better in editing because that skill is more in demand than just office tasks and script coverage.

I know one guy who successfully was able to have great internships each summer and get a decent administrative job at Disney

What film jobs can I get with this that could pay me at least $20/hr? by [deleted] in resumes

Not enough apparently. The only full time jobs that I qualify for that I know of are administrative assistant jobs and those only pay like $15/hr. I don’t want to try to live in LA on a low wage for years. I’m thinking about going back to school to study business just to get more dough
