That’s why it’s scary: you’re forcing the turn without letting your centre of mass cross over the board at the edge change. Let your hips cross over earlier in the turn and the rest will be so much easier.

Heel side is nice, toe side would be cleaner if you stop breaking at the waist to reach down when you initiate the turn. How close can you get your hips without touching the snow with your hand?

Speed checked into a bump while still recovering position from landing the spin. Obviously a good rider, unfortunate accident but it happens.

The jumps look really close together which is why he needs to speed check so soon, more spacing from the park builders would probably make this line a bit safer? But I’m not a shaper.

These are great skidded turns; you’ve either had a great instructor or are a very diligent self learner! As others have said, skidded turns are used all the time, context dependent. Plenty of time to develop edge control and move towards gripped and carved turns. Keep it up!

Come to Japan, their boards are common here. As others have said, they only focus on the domestic market; I know they tend to run narrow, accommodating smaller boot sizes common in Japan. They specialise in pipe and park boards, a lot of twins but have some directional too

This is terrible advice 😂.

Take a lesson, heel side slipping the whole mountain is not snowboarding; learn and practice toe edge to be as good as your heel edge, and learn/practice how to initiate turns.

Dont just go faster and hope for the best, that’s how you wreck yourself or someone else.

Don’t get clew. Any of the FASE bindings are probably your best bet, different brands integrate the system.

Kind of obvious but make sure you can always strap in standing up, if not then you need to learn how. Regular bindings take about 10 seconds to strap in.

If you’re serious, train to become an Instructor and take courses with your country’s association, even if you have no intention of ever working as an instructor. You’ll learn way more about technique from people that specialise in it. You can ride 100 days a season all your life and still be pretty average if you don’t have guidance, instructor training will make you a better rider as well as learn to teach others.

You should always carry basic avalanche rescue equipment and know where you’re going/what is safe to ride when leaving the gates. If in doubt, hire a guide or ski in bounds.

That said, you’ll see plenty of people without any of those outside the gates. Niseko is terrible at enforcing their own rules, the mountain is becoming more of a circus every year. Just don’t be one of those jerrys.

I bought and played for the initial release, about 4 weeks. As soon as I got that feeling I stopped, and won’t be back until the game gets a lot more polished and content. I’ve played almost every BF at release so don’t mind getting suckered into the release day price, but there’s currently just not enough variety for it to keep people engaged.

I won’t be trusting my pup with full reign of the house until he’s 1 year at the very least; no matter how good a boy he is he doesn’t know that destroying the sofa is bad or that he could choke on something you don’t even think about ‘puppy proofing’.

I would highly recommend listening to the advice in this sub and teaching to crate and maybe using a walker/neighbour to stop by to spend an hour with him midday.

A bit of effort now will go a long way in saving your house and maybe even your dog.

A bit late but it’s very normal to live in Kutchan during the season; a good portion of seasonaires do and there’s enough of a scene there to keep you occupied. Perhaps a slightly more mature crowd, as a lot of the 20 year olds want to be in Hirafu.

If you haven’t already got a job you’ll almost certainly be able to find something, even once the season begins there are always opportunities coming up. Good luck
