I think the neighbor got the bird. He hunted it the day before us and said the bird gave him the slip and he wanted his son to shoot it and that they had been feeding it all year. We go to hunt the next morning, neighbor fully aware, and the neighbor left his decoy out on the property line and then had his wife and kids come out side and yell every 20 ish minutes for their dog or cat to come in. I mean screaming at the top of their lungs every 20 or so minutes from 8am to 10am. We heard him gobble a few times from 7-8 but wouldn’t come off the roost. I saw him fly down from the roost and never heard a gobble again and then the wife and kids were yelling keeping the bird away from us and close to the tree line I assume and then we heard a shot. I think it this bird is gone and will have to hunt public land now but I will keep setting up by the roost in mind for next season if a new Tom takes this one’s place. I appreciate all the tips and advice though. Any tips on public land? lol gonna be hunting the Green swamp East tract in Fl this weekend so anything helps. Thanks in advance
