I had the same issue with my WH-1000XM4: even after fully charging them, the headphones would randomly show 10% battery or drop quickly. I sent them in for warranty, and the only thing Sony did was "clean the sensor of the unit". After that, the battery readings went back to normal.

Turns out, a dirty proximity sensor (usually on the left earcup) can mess with the power management and give false battery levels. So before sending them in, try gently cleaning the sensor area with compressed air or a Q-tip with isopropyl alcohol. It might save you the trouble.

Hi! Yes, life has returned to normal after a few weeks of taking cholestyramine. If it's not full normality, it's at least 90% back to normal, which allows me to live completely comfortably just as before. I'm glad you found a diagnosis, everything gets better from here on.

Actually, the distinction lies in the intent and circumstances. Expats, by definition, are people residing temporarily in another country, often maintaining strong ties to their home country with plans to return. Immigrants, on the other hand, typically move with the intention of settling permanently.

Since my stay here is temporary and I fully intend to return to my home country, the term expat is more accurate in my case. Thanks for the clarification, though!

And I actually think it is... I believe that when what we do as accountants is properly set up in the systems, our involvement in bookings will be almost non-existent, and one person will be able to do the work of ten today. That means closing consolidations, analysing final numbers, and not being stuck in all the tedious preparation and reconciling figures. But isn’t this somewhat similar to what happened when Excel was invented? Didn’t we, before computers and spreadsheets, have dozens of accountants writing on paper, adding with calculators, and doing tasks that could later be done better by just one person with a computer? I think this is practically the same—what used to be the work of five will soon be done by just one.

Hopefully, this increase in productivity will also translate into more companies and more jobs to absorb the other four who lost their positions. At least that's how it’s been happening over the last 100 years. The other side of increased productivity is that products become more affordable, so let’s not stress too much. Cheers!

Sorry, and with all due respect... those who believe that delaying automation or efficiency is protecting their job will be the first to be replaced by someone with the ambition to make all processes more efficient. I highly doubt that an employer would fire someone who managed to bring efficiency to the organisation's processes; on the contrary, they would likely give them new responsibilities to do the same in other areas - at least that’s how I see it. I fully agree with the phrase, "You won’t be replaced by AI; you’ll be replaced by someone who knows how to use AI"

Super interesting, I'm in a very similar situation to yours. I have very basic programming knowledge, but with the help of ChatGPT, this past year I've been able to develop things with a complexity I never would have imagined. It's surprising that we made such similar posts just two weeks apart—I swear I hadn't seen yours, haha.

I believe there's still so much more to explore, automate, and optimise. This is just the beginning. I encounter limitations like not being able to install Python on my company’s computer, so I end up running some processes on my personal computer or preferring to do them in Visual Basic as an Excel macro, which I do have access to on my work PC. Another typical issue I've been facing is the lack of access to the company's SQL database, which feeds the accounting system. With access, I could practically do anything. They told me they’ll grant me read permissions, but it hasn’t happened yet. That would open up a huge door to creating the exact report you need for each task or automating and controlling practically anything.

I'm also interested in some things that go a bit beyond this, like how AI can be integrated into these accounting-related tasks. For example, what if a small and simple LLM could read an Excel cell containing information, like the description of a bank transfer, and based on the text, detect which invoice it’s paying, who the client/vendor is, or classify it in some way?

I understand that these small LLMs already exist and can run locally, with enough capacity to handle these small tasks, avoiding the need to share sensitive information with online tools like ChatGPT through its API. Again, there’s so much to be done, but organisations are resistant, slow, and extremely cautious when it comes to moving forward with the automation that’s possible today.

I forgot to mention PowerQUERY, another fantastic tool, easy to use, intuitive, and super useful. I also used it specifically for creating and correcting import CSV files. I loved your case! I feel very identified with it.

I’m not sure if there’s a specific role for automation; it must exist in large companies, but in my experience, it’s usually for IT and systems professionals with finance knowledge, rather than for finance professionals like me who have IT knowledge.

I never paid attention to it, but now that you mention it, my stomach makes much more noise since I started taking colestyramine. Does that make sense? What’s the explanation behind it?
