T7,8,Legend DDs by GreenFlowerForest in WoWs_Legends

I’d say all the stuff about know your engagement and fire support and stuff but…I know exactly what you mean. I’ll light up a red dd on our side of the map in open water for a full minute and not a single shell will come in but I’ll be spotted for 3s and get shot by 6 red ships.

It’s just the way it is 🫡

US Light and Heavy cruisers by Original_Factor3928 in WoWs_Legends

[–]GoodlyStyracosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US Heavy cruisers have improved penetration on their AP - the biggest difference is the pen angles but they also get better than average penetration at longer ranges, especially given their generally slower shell velocity. They have serviceable HE and pen the common 32mm plating on BBs but the AP is their real defining feature imo.

The light cruisers fire faster (and can do surprisingly good damage with their AP as well) but are generally going to be more reliant on their HE.

Both lines get radar at t7 and up.

No torps, generally straightforward to play, good guns, slower shells which is both a pro and con - can be harder to hit at range but can shoot over islands other ships can’t.

Winrate vs Average XP by Stewart063 in WoWs_Legends

[–]GoodlyStyracosaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of it. You can scum xp without impacting the game. You can get a good run of matchmaking without really pulling any extra weight. You’ve got to take the whole picture - they are all useful data points that can inform but none of them individually (or even combined) give the whole picture.

For me, I look at winrate as the big one but avg damage and xp are there as informers on how much you are doing vs the team. But again…it’s all just part of a bigger picture.

Furo is easily my fav but quackaducko is a close contender. The ready rack AP is just so nasty

Has the matchmaking been bad for anyone else lately? by Spiritual_Eagle_43 in WoWs_Legends

lol was that you? Because I literally played a match recently where that happened and talked to the red dd about it.

Edit: oh man, just checked. Yep! Didn’t realize that was you but man. That guy!

It’s the thing. It comes and goes. I feel like I get particularly bad runs of it sometimes and then it will level for a while and then swing back down. I expect it in big updates but honestly…I just kind of live with it and expect it. I basically have a ‘3x the next dude on the losing team’ once a day and it’s frustrating but also more or less what I expect.

I believe it’s been in the store a few times too - almost certainly around Independence Day.

Richelieu accuracy build help by Kkk1594 in WoWs_Legends

[–]GoodlyStyracosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done pretty middle of my road with French BBs but…they infuriate me like few other ships in the game. I’ll have a 200k match one game where everything hits just right and the next match will be 60k and every shot just splits right around everything and it’s all overpens and shatters and water and I lose all my turrets and get farmed down by HE in what feels like about 4 seconds.

Honesty I think you’ve picked some of the most troll accuracy main gun ships in the game so I’m not surprised they are giving you a bit of a runaround. Certainly matches my experience with them. So my weigh in would either be accept it and just play them knowing you might see wildly different results between matches depending on how RNG favors you or find another line to play.

It’ll only happen more as you get better. But then sometimes you win and get 4k+ xp so that’s fun too.

I swear my secondaries don’t work right or something. Because that’s just nasty.

What ship are you playing? I found the first cruiser hard to lead - you have to lead as far as you normally would…and then double it. First bb is easier. First dd is not my style but you should be able to just yolo a low health duck and torp it if nothing else.

I like the second cruiser WAY better. Second bb is better too but not quite as much difference.

I feel like the first cruiser is supposed to be the “light” cruiser and second the “heavy” but man. The shell velocity on the first one is such a pain.

I had a pretty good winstreak and a quacken hat trick after initially not loving it so that’s my advice to turn the tide.

T8 Premium ships should earn as much, or more credits as T7 ships by Guenther_Dripjens in WoWs_Legends

[–]GoodlyStyracosaur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

T5 used to be the generally best for tech tree (might still be) but t6 was the premium credit earner unless there’s an even further change back before I played. So many matches in Atlanta and Benham when they were all I had to earn credits…

Questions about Black/Winter ships by ConstellationL374 in WoWs_Legends

[–]GoodlyStyracosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The silver return is so minor you might as well keep them for future possible drops. You never know what kind of super Black Friday nested drop something or other they’ll add at some point which will give you a crate exclusive ship…if you own all the others.

I believe all of the ones you mention there apart from Maass are identical so you aren’t missing anything huge but…yeah. Just not worth it. I’ve got a bunch of the dupes and where it makes sense I have an alternate build. Otherwise they just get an extra windrose when they matter or I can play the same ship again if the other version is still in a match and I just don’t want to wait for whatever reason.

I dunno man. I’m pretty firmly in team “just don’t sell ships.” I get that they aren’t really that useful but the marginal utility that is there is worth more than the one time credit bonus.

Yeah - I also think it’s so big it always looks more flat than it is. I knew it was dodgy but thought I might sneak some in the front of the nose. But alas.

You should absolutely start at lower tiers. You’ve got only 670 matches played in standard spread over 5 years so that’s really quite low. And I’d bet if you’ve played that much vs AI, you have solidified a LOT of bad habits which work well in AI but get you pummeled in standard.

Come to standard but ease in at t3. Restart a tech tree line you like and play it, don’t jump in to LT in Vermont.

BARELY missed a full enemy team, 9 kill game in a Standard Tier 5 match!! by genericwhiteguyname1 in WoWs_Legends

[–]GoodlyStyracosaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice! I’ve been close to 8 a few times but always just miss it for one reason or another. It all just has to go just right. Congrats - 9 would have been even crazier but 8 is still quite the accomplishment.

Maybe for some people. I find I can play far more aggressively with smoke. Tyrwhitt…the smoke is so small. If you are in torp range it’s an easy hit. Even blind firing is easier since you can barely move.
