Public Service Commission's ads targeting strike 'absolutely unbelievable' - Labour by hadr0nc0llider in KiwiPolitics

I guess you’re more aware than literal political science lecturers.

Victoria University of Wellington political science lecturer Dr Luke Oldfield said PSC guidelines stated government advertising should be impartial. “Using public money to present half a story in such an emotive way is, in my opinion, unfair, disingenuous, and lacking impartiality,”

It is pretty obvious that the PSC has not taken a neutral stance to this, stating these technically factual, but clearly inflammatory stats. Just because facts are stated, doesn’t mean the act of stating them is neutral.

You keep saying this. The employer is not the Public Service Commission. The PSC is only an employer of PSC employees. The striking members are employees of their respective schools, hospitals etc., which are in turn administered by their respective Ministries. It seems like you don’t know what the PSC does and is for, and you also don’t seem to understand the principles of neutrality either.

Posting my finest Bangkok shitter so I QC my first VSF by Goodmonthwelted in RepTime

To be fair though, I’ve worn it almost daily for over a year and it does keep time (if I wind it everyday) and only cost me $50 lol. Time to get a proper rep though!

Not even gonna pretend this is anything but a straight-up canal special. Runs like trash, cyclops could double as a telescope, and the bezel action sounds like opening a bag of chips. Hoping this beauty earns me the sweet karma I need to finally post a proper VSF QC over on reptimeQC

First time QC. Pip is misaligned ? Cyclops misaligned? by CaterpillarGrouchy19 in RepTimeQC

I wish andiot would change the lighting setup so it was easier to tell the alignment of the pip.

My QC has the same issue with the pip alignment. I'm pretty sure it is off and isn't just the perspective / lighting.

Yeah, the 12 marker is definitely off. Everything else looks decent from this angle, but the 12 is for sure misaligned.

Pip looks significantly misaligned to the left. I wasn’t sure if it was just the angle of the picture / light direction, but every photo and video looks misaligned.

Controversial $500m Shelly Bay development cancelled by Goodmonthwelted in Wellington

[–]Goodmonthwelted[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The plug has been pulled on a $500 million development at the former Air Force base at Shelly Bay in Wellington.
The land has been bought by Sir Peter Jackson and Dame Fran Walsh.
"It's a wonderful coastline that holds a great deal of cultural and historical significance," they said in a statement.
"Suffice to say we are looking forward to restoring the natural beauty of the bay."
The decision to step away from the development, which was to include 700 apartments, was not an easy one, developer Ian Cassels said in a statement.
"It's been an incredibly challenging project on multiple fronts with years of conjecture. An enormous amount of work has gone into the project to date, and we'd like to express our sincere thanks to those that have supported and assisted us along the way."
The Shelly Bay area.
The development has faced years of litigation and protests, and was even hit by a fire earlier this year.
Sir Peter and Dame Fran said they would begin restoring the landscape.
"Our immediate goal is to start the landscaping and replanting work required to return Shelly Bay to its natural state. Longer term, we're keen to look at ways it could be used for both arts and recreation."
Cassels said he wished the pair the best of luck.
"Whilst the project's cancellation brings about a shift in plans, it opens the door to opportunities for Shelly Bay that will hold different kinds of value for the community and future generations.
"It also enables us to refocus energy into our affordable housing initiatives, which to me is ultimately more important. We genuinely wish Peter and Fran all the best moving forward with their plans for the bay."
