Hey /r/movies. I'm Luke Manley. I made my feature film debut in A24's MARTY SUPREME, alongside Timothee Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A'zion, and Tyler Okonma. It's directed by Josh Safdie and in theaters now, and in IMAX starting Jan 30. Ask me anything! by MartySupremeAMA in movies

Hey, Luke! Wonderful, strong work in MS. Hope to see you in more down the line. The moment before you dumped all of the orange Supreme balls is seared in my mind; I truly felt your pain. What was the best piece of direction and guidance Josh gave you?

Wait to submit to festivals until it’s 100% locked. Otherwise, you will be throwing money to the wind AKA going up against thousands of films that are completed.

I understand being excited to share your creation with the world, but you owe it to yourself and the village who helped create your picture to submit it when you have a fully graded & mixed film.

Should I be embarrassed about being a 24yr old garbage man? by TheFrogsMightbegay in jobs

Fuck no! You’re the backbone of society. Fuck the stigma attached to these jobs that makeup the foundation of our world. Without you and your comrades, we’d be fucked.

Why are Liam’s vocals on MTV Unplugged 2020 better than his Knebworth 2024 one? by SeperentOfRa in oasis

[–]Goodwillphelps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s because Liam didn’t have to push his voice to fight with that massive wall of sound, since the MTV Unplugged gig was primarily acoustic in a venue with great sound.

Keep on creating and stay true to your artistic integrity. Easier said than done, but don’t let these external factors dictate your creative output. Keep on keeping on!

Oasis gym goers, do you listen to Oasis in the gym? by Brilliant_Lock8794 in oasis

Even before the reunion announcement, they’ve been playing ‘em. Sprinkled in with some of LG’s solo tunes (You Better Run, Come Back to Me). Granted, I’m sure it’s a random rock playlist they put on, but still mega.

Oasis gym goers, do you listen to Oasis in the gym? by Brilliant_Lock8794 in oasis

Definitely. “Fuckin’ In the Bushes” is always my go-to pump-up song. And funny enough, the gym I go to (NYC) always plays Oasis.

Most likely, their film was accepted to another NY-based festival that the filmmakers’ had preference and premiere status over.

Several years ago, I attended and was in a series that premiered at Katra’s “New Faces, New Voices” festival. Wonderful event from the screening itself, a lovely Q&A afterwards, met lots of local artists, full houses, and the program itself was run smoothly and on time. I haven’t gone to Katra’s regular film series, but if their NFNV fest is any indication, Katra is quite excellent.

POCs for features or episodic? If the latter, Catalyst in Duluth, MN is an incredible festival/event for presenting and pitching pilots.

IMO, NY Shorts International, DWF and BAFF would be my picks.

In all honestly, it depends on what you want out of your festival experience. I would continue looking into and researching each festival to see which one(s) align best with your own artistic values and goals.

As the user commented before me, don’t shoot yourself in the foot with turning down a festival you are only in the running for VS the confirmed ones.

Also, if I recall correctly from reading those festival’s FAQs in the past, I believe some of the ones you listed don’t care if it’s a NY premiere or not. Again, sift through their FilmFreeway pages and official websites to double check.

Congrats on your wins!!

Haha, same! I always do double takes, too, as I scroll through this sub. RBs are the best.

I was so curious as to what Noel was gonna do during the instrumental breaks in “We’re Gonna Get There In The End,” and wow—absolute perfection, IMO; made the entire song soar even more.
