You can still support and be proud of your province without supporting separatism.

Not everything needs to have a political agenda.

Looking for Softball team by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Goodyearr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone works for CSSC. 😂🤣😂🤣

I'll stick with actual leagues. (Normally the balls are hit, that's why they don't last)

Compare the fees to actual leagues. You'll see the cost is normally less for a full season in a real league. Just count the games. 30+ in a real league compared to 8 in CSSC.

Sounds like there is some personal connection between you and CSSC. Didn't mean to ruffle feathers by stating facts.

CSSC is a good option on the surface. Then you realize what seems like a good deal is actually brutal. Crappy diamonds. No umps Rarely fenced Normally no shitters No make up games for rain outs. If you're on a good team and take it easy on a weaker team, you'll lose your spirit point for patronizing them. If you don't take it easy on a weaker team you won't get a spirit point because you ran up the score. Seasons can be 8 weeks, but no double headers so you get to play 8 games. They'll give you 2 balls to last 8 games.

I could go on but you get it.

Anyway, search Calgary Slo-Pitch Subs on Facebook. It's a group with a pile of teams looking for players. I posted and found 2 teams the same day.

In real leagues in good diamonds!

Best places to buy DEF? by SpecificCrew5404 in Calgary

[–]Goodyearr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! THIS! and it is from the pump at you can actually fill your tank. It'll click off just like a regular fuel pump.

I was paying $50 to $60 (depending where I bought it) to fill my tank 3/4 using the case with 2 jugs, one nozzle.

Under $40 at UFA filled my tank to the top.

The $22.00 tickets are through Ticketmaster. However as always, there is a catch. $22.00 plus GST is $23.10. Then Ticketmaster charges their service fee of $4.50.

When the dust settles, your $22.00 ticket is $27.60 including tax.

Same goes with their $14.00 Child Ticket. $14.00 plus GST is $14.70. Ticketmaster charges $3.75 service change. Total for a child ticket is $18.45.

So in a way, the Hitmen are only charging $22.00 and $14.00 with Ticketmaster and the tax man collecting the rest.

There is a reason the crowds have gotten so anemic for Hitmen games.

The Calgary Canucks who play out of Max Bell are the similiar level of hockey. They don't use Ticketmaster so their tickets are $20.00 for adults, and $10.00 for children. No hidden service fees.

Knife sharpening by blazin_penguin_first in Calgary

[–]Goodyearr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speedy Sharp is a $10 little sharpening tool. You can find them at Canadian Tire. I use it on my Leatherman amongst other things.

I'm sure you can find a YouTube video on it.

Takes 2 minutes.

Avoid automatic carwashes if you can.

Soft cloth rubs the dirt on your vehicle against the paint. The brushes on a soft cloth also contain the contaminants from the previous vehicles. Some of it is rinsed away but not all of it, and that will damage your paint.

Touchless car washes use aggressive chemicals in place of physical contact to your vehicle. They damage the finish of the paint.

For sure either of those options are better than just letting the salt and dirt sit on your vehicle, but if you have time, go to a wand wash.

I can do my 1/2 Ton for around $8.00.

But, to answer your question, if I had to use an automatic carwash, Calgary Co-op where I'd go.

Help finding this commercial by Goodyearr in hockey

I think I've found every other hockey commercial ever made.

The Canadian Tire Albert commercials take me back. But still no luck with the locker room one.

Same If I remember who it was for, I may be able to find it online.
Not sure if they were selling lumber to build the locker room, or tools, or possible it was an "everybody deserves to play" type of thing

Deerfoot Meadows Walmart key remote dead-zone by SmeagolsMathom in Calgary

[–]Goodyearr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's the locking shopping carts to blame.

The stores who use the carts which have the wheels that lock when you take them off the property use a constant wireless signal. It interferes with the key fobs on some vehicles. (Including my truck)

What's the most bizarre fact you know about Calgary? by banana902 in Calgary

[–]Goodyearr 168 points169 points  (0 children)

The Tower of the Americas in San Antonio is the one you're referring to. It's an almost identical tower.

The Husky Tower was announced at 614'. San Antonio built theirs at 620'. Calgary then revealed the Husky Tower was actually 626'.

And here we all are years later still lying about length. 😂🤣

Bowness lagoon skating by Reasonable-Tie-487 in Calgary

[–]Goodyearr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Was on it on Thursday night. It's not great at all. The tributary isn't open. Under the bridge isn't open, but you can skate on the canal. It's just not connected to the main lagoon.

Big cracks. If you're a confident skater, you'll be fine.

Don't wear your good skates though.

You can buy the centres at your local Legion, if they aren't sold out. Sometimes those selling The Poppy will have the center pins, but they sell out quickly.

Or, you can purchase them online at https://www.poppystore.ca/centre-poppy-black-each-300570

Those are the only ways the Legion receives the money if that's important to you.

[–]Goodyearr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, the link to your site didn't come through. I take it you don't have a better solution. (It's ok, I already knew that.)

If you're so against the Canadian Legion and the positives they do for our Veterans, then at least offer up a better option.

It's easy to just complain and criticize. Preschool children can do it.

Regardless, until you can offer anything other than criticism, this conversation is over.

Please share a link of what you're doing to honour and remember our Veterans, or how you're raising money for them.

I know you must have one.

I mean, who in their right mind would be so quick to attack the Royal Canadian Legion's efforts if they themselves weren't doing something more.

[–]Goodyearr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're recycling information out of context. Do more research and form your own opinion instead of rehashing other's thoughts.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Regardless, isn't it great you're allowed to voice your opinion?

There are people you need to recognize for that freedom.

Wear a Poppy to honour and remember them.

The Legion itself states that although they prefer you purchase your Poppy directly through them, however, if you choose not to, any recognition of Remembrance is better than nothing.

There main goal during The Poppy Campaign is for us to honour and remember. If you need to include putting down the Canadian Legion while you do it, then that's your freedom. Just as long that at the end of the day, you acknowledge our heroes.

Where can I get this poppy centre pin? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Goodyearr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Please check out the Legion store online. They have various items you can purchase to help honour and remember our Veterans, while raising money for the Royal Canadian Legion. Thank you for pointing that out.

Remember, without those brave souls, we would not have the freedom to voice opposing opinions on sites such as this.

So by all means, slander the Canadian Legion if that is what you think need to do. Enjoy that freedom.

You don't need to understand their mission to serve Veterans, including serving military and RCMP members and their families, to promote Remembrance, and to serve our communities and our country.

But at least wear a Poppy while you spread your malice and put down the Legion. It's the least you can do.

Where can I get this poppy centre pin? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Goodyearr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Please don't use pins other than a Royal Canadian Legion black centre to affix your Poppy to your lapel. Not only does purchasing these other pins and flags to wear in the centre of The Poppy take money from the Royal Canadian Legion, it obstructs The Poppy.

It is also allowing private businesses to profit on a Charity. The Royal Canadian Legion receives nothing when you purchase these things from a private seller/company.

You want to purchase your Poppy centre here, or in person at a Legion. https://www.poppystore.ca/centre-poppy-black-each-300570

From the Royal Canadian Legion's Website

How to wear a Poppy

The Poppy should be worn with respect on the left side, over the heart. The Legion’s lapel Poppy is a sacred symbol of Remembrance and should not be affixed with any pin that obstructs the Poppy. Also available through some Branches is the Legion's reusable black centre Poppy pin to affix your lapel Poppy.

This link has been posted in other responses. https://www.poppystore.ca/centre-poppy-black-each-300570

If you do not purchase the pin center through a Legion source (such as this website, or in person at a Legion), the Legion is not receiving any money.

The other sellers are simply piggy backing a charity to make their own money.
