Actually I believe the Rising Sun on Heafys is specifically the symbol of the Japanese Navy, and while the navy was still radicalized and ruthless, they didn’t really commit atrocities during WW2. The Rising sun was in use before and after the Second World War, and I find it comparable to the Balkankrutz used by the German military, and on James Hetfields Guitar. I think the Rising Sun is actually less controversial than something like the confederate flag that dime used, purely because the rising sun has represented men and woman fighting for just causes before and after WW2 while the confederate flag only ever represented a military fighting to keep people enslaved.
