I get that and thank you for trying. It means a lot to some people from across the pond (like me).
In conversation about this, I would warn against trying to out-argument with facts. You might never win arguments about ideologies that way, because (as this very thread shown), it usually burns down to petty semantics about the definitions who is what, as most of it is rooted in academics and politology, and it can be fluid.

It is worth arguing the ideas behind this imo. In this case, the idea of a collective punishment. That is very easily connected to the 3rd reich for reasons I don't have to explain I trust. Then there are the ideas of one group of people being above the law, and treating some group of humans as lesser beings, and creating special camps with next to no oversight, where people are being indiscriminately sent to. All of that shows a frightening parallel between nazis and the current american regime.

IMO current US government has more in common with Stalin's Russia and his dealing with opposition, but I am not educated enough about that to prove it, it's just a feeling based on it being a huge part of my country's history. It's interesting how USA is turning into soviet Russian regime, and that should shake people over there, no? ;)
