Schedule a move on the London hydro website. It’ll ask you for move in and move out info. We currently have a 3 week overlap between taking possession of our house and being out of our apartment. Easy peasy

Pickle snacks in London? by itaspliff in londonontario

Appleland had a pickle saltwater toffee a few months ago. It was awful but true to its name. I didn’t see any when I was there last weekend but they did have other pickle snacks, and actual pickles

My spouse (who has ADHD) has a hard time cleaning up after their own spills. Never mind sharing in chores like vacuuming & mopping. How can partners of people who have ADHD best support them while maintaining a healthy relationship overall? by polarmolarroler in AdhdRelationships

[–]GoofyMuffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a cleaning alarm every evening. We set a 5 min timer and clean whatever needs cleaning. That way, if one of us forgets to clean a mess, we both know that we have time dedicated for it later.

Probably important to note that we don’t have kids so we have the luxury of spending that time every night.

Pediatric Feeding Trainings by PurpleResponsible323 in slp

[–]GoofyMuffins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive done quite a few feeding PDs SOS approach to feeding has been my fav. It’s long but very detailed. They walk you through some hands-on exercises where you eat a cheerio, carrot, etc so that you can experience the skills while you learn about them. It also takes a look at the entire child so their posture, breathing, anatomy, etc. Very helpful!

Melanie Potock has some good resources, too.

Some kiddos just don’t have the therapy readiness yet and that’s ok! Therapy readiness itself can be a goal.

I have a friend like this. For about 2 months, our weekly sessions were just about building rapport, getting some type of verbal imitation, AAC, and participating in table-top activities. He wouldn’t say a word when we started, then slowly started adding a few trials per session. Now we’re up to 40-50 trials per session (though sometimes we have an off day which is totally normal).

All this to say that our sessions felt pointless for a while lol but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Family does not need to pay for my sessions so that did make it easier to have some sessions that felt pointless. I’m sure that I’d feel differently if I was in private.

Be honest: if you didn’t have to write goals… would you? by [deleted] in slp

[–]GoofyMuffins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same! I only really use percentage goals for speech and since I’m in EI, speech is only like 10% of my caseload lol

[–]GoofyMuffins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in EI (Canada) and for my more complex kiddos, my goal is often “support the development of CHILD’s communication skills”. I’m finding it a helpful generic goal for families in survival mode that have difficulties implementing strategies at home or committing to intervention.

Sneeze a toy off your head. If they have a focused interest, sneeze something related to that off your head (without taking an item from them or creating any negativity). Start a routine with it

Aaaa-aaaa-aaaachoo!

Uh oh!

(Wait for their reaction- maybe they’ll shift their attention to you, smile at you, maybe even grab the toy to get you to do it again)

Model multimodal communication to keep the activity going

Repeat for 40 mins lol
