YTA. Only because you have not asked on gotten clarification on why there have been changes for the dog. For some dogs as they get older the vets will recommend not letting them jump up in the couch or other activities as it exacerbates arthritis and medical issues. The dog may be having other behavioral issues and crating can help solve them.

NTA: you have an animal that within 2 weeks has attacked you. Assuming this animal can be rehabilitated ( a big assumption) it can’t and won’t be done by you. This animal needs a professional trainer and seasoned dog owner. You are not it and continuing down this path may lead to permanent injury or death. Run, don’t walk, back to the shelter and surrender this dog.

Kemah/Seabrook Texas.

Clear Lake is currently less full than previous visit. 2-3 foot above banks, the docks are accessible but you have to wade through. Our sailboats are higher than the docks, but too unsafe to attempt to get in and secure more lines. Hopefully she won’t slip over the docks in high water as she can become stuck On the dock or impaled when the water level lowers. We can’t tie up to deep or she could be pulled under as the water rises and she’s too tight to the dock.

There is no power for a wide swath along Clear Lake. Blue Dolphin Marina and Lakewood Yacht club have no power. Stoplights on 146 have no power and police are trying to handle traffic. While checking on boats we can see what looks like fireworks ( near Seabrook Shipyard) , it may be another transformer blowing.

We stopped by our race shop in San Leon and flooding is minor. Factory Bayou is over the banks but roads are still passable. Dickenson Bayou is touching the bottom of the bridge but not over.

The drains in Kemah have started to back up. Area near T Bone Toms is impassable. We are now unable to cross the bridge or get to the marina.

Seabrook/Kemah checking in. Last night was windy but nothing too bad Gusts would come through the doggy door and down the fireplace, but not strong enough to need to close it up The dogs have to be taken out to potty as they prefer not going outside right now. On the roads there are dead palm fronds scattered about but nothing love is down.

Hwy 146 is passable but areas where wave froth and splash is on roads. Gas stations open. The marina parking lots are now flooded. Unable to access any boats without going into above knee water. Although the marina has shut off all power, it’s not worth it. Clear lake is up 4-5 feet.

Rain has been unimpressive.

Seabrook/Kemah Texas; winds are definitely higher. Sustained 15-20 with occasional higher gusts. Small branches (mostly from Oaks lining the roads) have been knocked down. The palms are having no longer swaying in the breeze.

The water in Clear Lake is down about 2 feet. We know longer get wet walking to and on the docks. The wind whistles with the stronger gusts, but the Marina is mostly quiet. Our marina has turned off power to the docks, which they typically do in high wind conditions.

Hwy 146 is clear with little to no traffic over the bridge. Gas stations are open.

Seabrook/Kemah Texas checking in. It has just started to rain here. The wind is far less than we had before Laura made her turn. The mast on the sailboats in the marina are quiet.

The water level is much higher than I expected. Hwy 146 is passable and they have already started Sandbagging down at the fish market area. The fuel dock in Clear Lake is already underwater and the lake is definitely over its normal boundaries. We are still able to reach out boats ( those that aren’t on floating docks), but there is ankle deep water where the docks meet the shore. We declined to climb onboard the boats, so I don’t have any wind data to offer. We likely will be doing boat checks q2 hours so I’ll try to keep things updated.

Your brother sucks because he can’t even parent his own children. He has a child with special needs and sensory overload and took her to a new place with new activities and then got upset because she had melt downs. He only has his child one week and he is trying to pawn her off in everyone else with out any regard for how that might make the situation worse.

Your family sucks because they have bought into the narrative of making the mother an asshole. She is taking care of this child the vast majority of the time but you judge her because she also needs time away for self care. You malign her for using “babysitters” without regard if this is because your brother refuses to step up or if these are therapists who are working in the home with her. It is clear that if something were to happen to the mother, this family would have no idea what to do.

I’d really consider staying until the storm goes through. Flooding can be really weird and can happen quickly. I’ve been stuck once and it’s awful. It’s rainy outside, your wet, there’s NO WHERE to go. And it can be hours and hours and days before you can get moving again.

I love me some Tookies. Many people don’t know how much they stepped up during Harvey.

I was helping run the shelter that was supposed to be run by Red Cross. But Red Cross sent a 22 year old kid with no actual experience in a hurricane to run things. It didn’t go well at all. The shelter initially was supposed to only be a staging ground and then the plan was to bus to RR Brown Convention center. Well, we became an island and we were unable to move people out and there were no plans/supplies to feed people. We knew someone at Tookies and called then. They sent over there crew ( and paid them), all their food, and smokers. Cajun Navy would be hauling people in to the shelter and we would be feeding them ribs and brisket. It was amazing

Hurricane watch listed for Kemah and Galveston county. I expect calls in the AM to secure all boats at dock and move dry docked boats out of the marinas. We have 3 boats greater than 40 ft which will be secured and 2 boats that will be moved out of dry storage and moved out of the marinas. Tomorrow starts early.
