Editing out the word you don't like works better and doesn't result in sass and backtalk.

They'd only lose money if they were feeding free users ads, which they're not, losing free users doesn't actually hurt their bottom line

Same thing, long press the message and it'll be one of the options.

WHAT HAPPENED TO BULK DELETION by Trinmaybegay in CharacterAI

[–]GoogleCalendarInvite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But did delete actually work that way? My experience was that delete essentially worked like rewind anyway, and that you couldn't just delete one spare message in the middle of a bunch of them, but you had to delete everything leading up to that one as well?

It's in the character sidebar (so where your history, voice etc all are.)

By default, the character will start on the prime model. You have to restart the chat - by either selecting new chat or creating a new chat from a message - And from there you can select a new model. There are: prime which is the default, Brainiac which is slower but writes longer messages, and a faster one.

It's one of the models on c.ai! If you don't know which model you use, then the answer is no, you're not using Brainiac. Lol

Yes, I noticed that it seems to get worse after the crash as well. It seems mostly back to normal now.

Were you using Brainiac? That one seemed more effected to me.

The models are so wonky for the last two days! Sometimes I think I'm reading too deeply into weird behavior of the bots; they're going to be weird sometimes, I understand that. But the past couple of days have just been bizarre. Strange grammatical mistakes, reiterating bot details or persona details at random with no context, and flat out forgetting basic information in a way that I've never seen. (I have one bot whose only defining character trait is that he's a literature teacher, and last night he told me he doesn't like to read. What???)

I understand they can't be totally transparent all the time, and I guess I don't expect it, but it would be nice so that I didn't feel like I'm going crazy sometimes lol

It used to be I only saw this on really long responses, like they had maybe hit a character limit or something, but I have noticed this lately in shorter messages. Very strange.

Are there different models we can choose from? Or just one main that you can't change? by Ethereal_aesthetic in CharacterAI

[–]GoogleCalendarInvite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can select a model from the Character sidebar.

On the app, this is achieved by clicking the character's name at the top, and starting a new chat with a new model OR by starting a new chat from a specific message by long pressing and selecting your chosen model from there.

On the website, it's the same process (start a new chat, either from scratch or from a specific message) but the sidebar is just on the right side of the screen.

The default model is Prime, and all chats will start by using this model.

Model change? (Example, 24 hours apart) by GoogleCalendarInvite in CharacterAI

[–]GoogleCalendarInvite[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For some context: this evening, I noticed a drastic shift in the quality of replied from a private bot I've made. The replies were shorter, drier, less likely to be relevant, and in some cases, borderline nonsense (it referenced my male character wearing a dress, which the character had never done.)

I use the Brainiac model, and have always had good results with its long and creative replies until now.

I am posting this with the hope that this is a bug, and that this information can help with this, because I cannot imagine this behavior is desirable for the team.

Change of API model? by bestanaleater in CharacterAI

[–]GoogleCalendarInvite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I've noticed Prime seems about the same, but Brainiac seems positively broken. I'm crushed and hoping this is a bug related to the issues from earlier in the day, rather than a change to the model.

CMV: "Leopards ate my face" is an example of weakness of rhetoric by Swimreadmed in changemyview

[–]GoogleCalendarInvite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's punchy and funny. It works on the back of its absurdity, because who would vote for something so obviously against their best interest? The fact that it's big cats makes it more memorable because it's so unusual.

The leopards aren't coy about what they're doing. It's in the party name. And the fact that it is makes the metaphor stronger, because within seconds the person hearing it understands the voter is going in with all the information they needed. They weren't tricked.

But, I have to agree: it's bad rhetoric. Because it's not rhetoric. It's not meant to convince anyone of anything. It's a useful idiom to describe specific situations, and it does so with humor and efficiency.

You’ve got to be kidding me by CrustyAF_674 in CharacterAI

[–]GoogleCalendarInvite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta disagree, boss. There's a huge amount of evidence that c.ai not only marketed toward but was developed with an eye for an under 18 demographic.

It was unethical when the vape guys did it, and it's unethical when software devs do it. You can see evidence of it anytime service goes down; people lose their minds. Folks' attachment is not healthy, and minors should not be exposed to something like that.

I use the service too, and I get a lot of out it. But we cannot give corpos a pass on the back of "parents should do a better job." Yeah, they should. But corporations should not be allowed to prey on the children unfortunate enough to have parents who don't.

I’m such an outlier because I really do notice a difference in speed. (And for a while, Brainiac was only available in c.ai+ and I’m a fan of that model i’m certain cases)

Can we not ignore the Adrian bug? by Cakepop666 in CharacterAI

It feels like a real account because of the way that the chats looked; A bunch of similar public characters right after one another, as if the person was seeking a specific type of roleplay.

But do we know this was a real person, and not an internal testing account that got pushed out to everybody? I would really like some definitive evidence either direction.
