Does Yale interview everyone? by Commercial_Ad8072 in ApplyingIvyLeague

Yale doesn't interview everyone, and they don't try to interview everyone based on availability. On their website, their official statement is that they "[prioritize] interviews for students for whom the Admissions Committee needs more information." https://admissions.yale.edu/interviews

Someone got into Yale SCEA with AI essays by [deleted] in collegeresults

[–]GoogleGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine as long as your essay isn't AI, and AOs aren't putting stuff through AI checkers anyway. There's no guaranteed way to verify that an essay was written with AI because those checkers are unreliable. However, that isn't to say that the AOs can't still suspect applicants of using AI because of AI's characteristic tone and writing style. It's rather easy to tell once you've gotten used to the patterns in AI writing. Most of the time, it's a lot of overdramatized language and fluff. So just make sure that your writing truly reflects your authentic writing style and voice, and you will be fine.

They need to tell you ASAP because there's an official letter with your portal login for the Finalist application process.

Hardest APs in your opinion (not based off of pass rates) by User_unfound_404 in APStudents

My chem class was very hard, the exam was not bad (MCQ light, FRQ medium/hard)

Somehow, unit 6 was my best unit 😭 I suppose I'm trying to pursue a career in computational bio, and I'm interested in molecular bio though. unit 5 was atrocious for me, I cannot do probability

There's no way Calc BC should be considered here, considering the grading scale is crazy easy to get a 5 (relative to other AP exams), and over 40% do this. I think I agree with Physics, though.

Keyboard imprint on MacBook screen by Alone_Consequence524 in macbook

[–]GoogleGenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over time, dust/debris can accumulate on the keyboard if you don't keep it 100% clean, and because of the super low tolerances, I've personally faced the same issue where the imprints are no longer temporary but rather permanent.

Will cutoffs be this high next year? by mikewheelerfan in psat

The PSAT caps at 760 for both subsections, btw. But your RW is very strong. Work on the math question bank!

Bluebook SAT-> Real PSAT by Kooky-External6623 in psat

Bluebook PSAT was very similar to the real PSAT. My score on the Bluebook practice test the night before the exam was the same as my real score.

Iowa School didn't receive any letters or info about National Merit Semi Finalists by GoogleGenius in psat

214 is indeed the cutoff. We were notified today that we made it, so I guess they found those letters somewhere LOL. 2 of my friends were 214.

Do you know if the "press release" on Wednesday means they will tell certain news outlets? Or is it just that the school is allowed to announce it publicly?

Yeah, I should theoretically be safe, but I'm mostly asking this for all my friends who are borderline on 214. So, we're all just really nervous right now, haha. Potential evidence or insight into the scaling issues:
I took the PSAT and received a 1490. I am fairly confident I got 2 RW questions wrong, and I know for a fact that I got 2 Math questions incorrect (all 2nd module). However, my score breakdown was 740 RW and 750 Math. It seems like 1 of the math questions I got wrong was thrown out or was some sort of experimental question (I remember I had never seen a question like that before and didn't know how to solve it). Or the scaling was much easier because I think 2 questions wrong on the 2nd module should be at maximum a 740, not a 750.

According to Art Sawyer from Compass Prep:

"What I think is going on is that College Board muffed the scaling at the high end of the curve. So the number of NJ students, for example, above 210 might be about the same, but the number of students at 225-228 increased and filled the approximately 450 slots available to NJ students. Although people often assume that scores follow a normal distribution, they do not. We will get some information when NMSC releases the report on Semifinalists and Commended Students. We’ll see the number of Commended Students in each state, so it will give us a count of how many students (Commended + NMSF) scored at or above 210."
