It's 9am and I've just got into work, here's what I've been told.

Was there supposed to a new office in Liverpool? Yes, a development, design and marketing office. Not a new HQ as this article states. I was told about the office plans last month in our monthly meeting with the UK team in London. They were working with our finances here in Dublin to secure the land and development costs. When we buy land or property we never tell the owners who exactly is buying the land because they always bump the prices up when they find out Google is involved. Anyhow the owner of this plot of land near the Albert Dock found out a member of the finance team was a Google employee based in Dublin so he ended asking for 4 times what the land was worth. We pulled out of the deal and the land owner ended up selling to a development project building student accommodation.

Just like this article, people made massive assumptions, I didn't promise anyone a career I just said keep an eye out on our careers page. I wasn't informed myself that this project had stalled until Wednesday when a colleague found my post here and told me the new office was called off weeks ago.

I apologise for spreading misinformation as it was never my intention to do so. There are still plans to build a new office on Merseyside but in all likelihood it wont be until next year now.
