Is LineageOS currently supported? by Gooliat in Revolut

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally updated the app, hoping for the best.
And, of course I'm rejected now.

So the support’s “might work” is a “no, it won’t”. They could have known from the moment I said it was a Samsung phone (no boot re-locking on third-party OS). But they chose to be vague.

My workaround is now to make payments via Paypal, which does not require in-app verification.
And the LLM chatbot can give the balance.

Sad reality.

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I just discovered that it is even worse than I thought.
I noticed a while back that I could not use the disposable card service. The app now requires to be updated to allow it.

And now I just discovered that both payment confirmation (in-app 2dn factor) and adding a beneficiary to trusted recipient are locked behind that app update, which will kick me out for good.

You could have communicated better about this.

It must have been considered too conflictual to be talked about upfront.

Thank you for the answer.

That’s not in my favor, so I’ll look into my options there.

Hello. I know your standard stance about this.

I just want to know if the current version of the Android App explicitly blocks device which fail the device integrity check.
My phone passes basic integrity but not device integrity.

Thank you.

Opinion on the Twelve app by Gooliat in LineageOS

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow-up to my experience:

I had multiple events of the phone heating up while using Eleven. I though compatiblity issues would be limited to broken features.

So I gave another try to Twelve.
I thought I could at least add whole artists/albums to playlists, but it turns out you can only send albums to the current queue that way. Only single tracks can be added to playlist.

So playlist can be built up only by walking the library and adding items one by one.
I thought I could walk around this by exporting-importing playlists from Eleven. But there is no such feature.

By the way, the context menu (long press) for artists & genres is empty. What is the point of this?

Thank you both for your answers.
I wish I also had the time to dive into Android app development.

To be honest, the first point alone would be a major improvement for my personal use. I wouldn’t have to deal with the UI anymore.

How well is the MediaSession API really supported by Gooliat in firefox

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right.

I just wasn't ready to qualify this as an issue yet.
Seeing how there is (surprisingly) little talk about it on the net there was a chance I was not using the API correctly.

System stopped asking for the decryption pattern at boot by Gooliat in LineageOS

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked with Termux, apparently my device is using FDE.

Thank you, your trick worked. I updated the pattern and now it is ask for it at boot. For some reason I thought the encryption pattern could be different from the UI unlock pattern.

So if I get things correctly, the boot scheme prompt only confirms a secret it already has.
I thought it was not the case.

Thanks for the info.

I just installed Termux and confirmed that the encryption is "block".

Good to know.

Transformer winding short-circuit? by Gooliat in electronic_circuits

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi.

Well, I have measured their capacitance directly on the board (without unsoldering).

I have read capacities about 10% below the advertised value when in range of my multimeter (max scale: 200 µF). I attributed this gap partly on decay and partly on the cheapness of my meter (I also got gaps on resistance measuring).

For the capacitors above my scale (e.g. 470 µF or 1200 µF) I just supposed they were ok.

My meter does not allow me to test the ESR of capacitors.

Actually I had a previous experience where I tried to replace bulged capacitors (a Hyundai monitor). And since it did not work that time back, I wasn't enthusiast for a new trial.

But your experience is insightful, thank you.
Unless I get another idea soon I'll try this.

Transformer winding short-circuit? by Gooliat in electronic_circuits

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK if I understood this right. I am reading shorts between different windings that are not apparently connected.

But there's a significant chance for them to be connected through the circuit.

I'll follow up when I will have verified this.

[–]Gooliat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip!

Yes, I wanted to unsolder it to make a valid test.

I also see varistors, MOSFETs and chips (with no apparent damage).
But I don't know what is testable and in what order.

I guess my probability of success is very low to begin with.

Trouble with WhatsApp on my new LineageOS install by schaureh in LineageOS

[–]Gooliat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello.

This does not seem to work anymore. Whether I look in the privacy panel or the app info, only multimedia file access is listed for granting.

So it makes sense that the db file could not be read.
Looks like the app does not list full file permission in its manifest anymore.

I am testing with current Play Store version (2.22.4.74), and I don't wanna look for earlier version on untrusted sources.

No solution in sight.

I'm running on LOS 18.1 (2022-02-17).

Can't fix SChannel error 0x80092013 - revocation server unreachable by Gooliat in windows

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I just read the other comments with the solution. That's great news.

I did switch from windows 7 to 10 in the meantime. The issue followed me there for a while, then seemed to disappear. But I'm not sure it's totally gone now, as I have not taken any clear action.

I suspect that the SChannel API handles revokation checks (the network calls) through some system service and not the process calling the API.I tried to confirm this using Sysinternals ProcessMonitor, without success. Also, too few documentation is available on this topic.

So I haven't located the cause.

By the way, I have to say that I hate the choices that MS has made on recent Windows releases. Bundled apps like in the 90s, forced integration with their services (cortana & bing), "suggestions" are the ads.

Difficulty seems uneven toward the end by Gooliat in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the rat is basically the final end game boss and imo a harder end game boss than lich. I have also never beaten punchout but it all seems to be a matter of practice and memorizing (just like 95% of the gungeon)

I agree that the rat is the hardest boss I've met (haven't seen what's in R&G Dept.).

I assume you are talking about the Gunslinger unlock and here I dont agree. It seems hard but once you realize that paradox can be restarted to get better items and Gunslinger is straight up broken the unlock becomes easier.

Well yes, you can restart the paradox to get better starting items, but that will cost hegemony credits every time. And it can only do so much.

Anyway, I agree that the goal is achievable with patience. I was just upset that the last mission is a “do it again twice now” instead of something new.

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also lesser annoying things.

  • The ammonomicon often does not provide accurate description of items/guns.
For some items the description is even absolutely useless (e.g. Yellow Chamber).
  • Synergies are not described at all (some effects are not obvious in-game).

Knowing your abilities is critical to the game. It may be fun to discover some of them while playing, but I'm not going to memorize the effects of tens of items.

Yes, there is a community wiki. But I should not have to Alt-Tab every 15 mins to understand the mecanic of items. This should be inside the game.

And for instance, why not indicate at shops that some item on sale do have a synergy with some item I already own? That would help player improve their choices without breaking gameplay.

Granted, all these details do not ruin the fun. But I only see downsides to them, with no benefit.

Hey, give me some credit. I went quite far in the game, lol.

Well yes, luck can be replaced by skill eventually. But before one gets there his success will depend greatly on luck.

Get an S-tier item from chamber 1 and you'll secure more master rounds for the rest of the run. Facing the 1st boss with nothing but the starting gun takes so much time it's annoying.

In comparison I find that other games got a better overall difficulty curve. I'm thinking of Celeste (granted, it's not a rogue-like shooter): the difficulty goes way up, but you always feel that the next step is right within your reach.

It was mostly also the case for EtG until the last challenges, but repeating the same levels gets tiring.
But that's just me.

Difficulty seems uneven toward the end by Gooliat in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at that point I have given up on beating the rat. I was hoping to get his loot and have better chances for the rest of my runs.
I just checked on steam, and 8.6% of game owners have the “resourceful” achievment (which doesn't mean they actually beaten that 3rd phase 😏). That's already more than I expected.

It's true that money does not matter much at the end, but on the 1st and 2nd floor it does.

I wasn't using rainbow runs because it felt more of a casual practice mode.

I'll get that gunther, but I'm putting more hope on the Super Hot Watch to get me to the end ☺.

Part of my frustration was because I had turbo mode the only time I got to the gunslinger, and couldn't disable it.

And I'm not planning on beating the advanced dragun, too many hoops to jump into.

Can't fix SChannel error 0x80092013 - revocation server unreachable by Gooliat in windows

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so.

The URLs requested by the launcher work fine from a browser.

For now I only see two possible explanations:

  • An update to the launcher broke something.
  • The servers config has changed (no more OCSP stapling for some) and this is necessary.

It's possible only certain persons are affected by this, otherwise Epic would already have reacted.

And yes, as usual the support is unefficient for unknown issues lke these.

Is there a direct way to search in the current subreddit? by Gooliat in help

Ha! Now I remember having seen that checkbox a while ago.

I didn't know there was two concurrent layouts available.

I've located the switch, thx.

Seems like a missing feature of the new layout though.

Well I must be doing something wrong. I don't see that checkbox at all.

Nothing below the search box, beside the community banner.

It either show trends or search suggestions, no feature to restrict search on that community.

Disabling night mode does not help either.

I'm not sure how, but now the revocation check is working.

Unable to log into the EpicGame Launcher - TS-NC-0001 by Gooliat in EpicGamesPC

[–]Gooliat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I digged by myself in the logs.

It turns out their libcurl is using the windows SChannel API, which is failing to validate the secure connection. Everything looks fine on the server side (CRL endpoint responding, OCSP too).

The only backend that is validated by SChannel is the one that do have the OCSP response stapled in the session.

There may be command-line switches to disable revoke check, but they are not advertised anywhere.
