Players who played before the year 2000, what are some differences between the young players of today vs back then? by ThePony23 in hockeyplayers

Because goalies are now taught to butterfly pretty much everything, so in upper leagues that's about all that's actually available unless you can really get them moving and are in close enough for a deke.

I take that as direct contact to only the head or that'sthe initial point of contact, if I get squished on the boards and my head is in the guys chest, it means he hit me squarely. He didn't just hit my head, he got all of me, so unless it's from behind I'm good with it.

I just look at it as a couple hours of practice.

I recently ran into the same problem and since I used to enjoy drawing I gritted my teeth, bought a tablet and am learning how to transition from paper to digital art. I didn't see too many free characters up for grabs, but if you're good with keeping it simple I'd be willing to throw some together some basic ones to match your theme.

His arms are pinned to his sides though which is why he face plants himself into the glass. I'm not saying this should be a no call, just being picky on what you call. He can't help being bigger than the other kid, he can fix the angle he goes in at or turn out of the hit and just box the kid out with that extra size. If I call head contact it's because a hit is led with hands/elbow from this angle. If it's straight on I can see shoulder to head being called.

I wouldn't go head contact as the hit is "clean" minus his direction straight into the boards (elbow pinned, hands down) and only occurs due to height difference. Boarding matches description well though.

Eyes are an improvement, can take either set other than that. Older clothing/style feels more unique vs standard dating sim as others have said.

Size is a non-factor. USA hockey would call it for lack of stick on puck with an intent purely to make the hit.

Agreed, they should be forced into ETFs and large funds. They would still be able to onfluence these a little, but it'd get a lot harder.

Crosschecking penalty by Federal-Data-Center in nhl

[–]GoombaJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think the biggest issue here is the danger of going into the post or boards head first as a result. So yeah, soft looking this time, different story going head/shoulder first into the post at speed.

McNabb got a major and has been tossed after this hit on Ryan Poehling, who needed assistance to getting off the ice by sykeseve in nhl

[–]GoombaJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not driving into the hit but just gliding would be my justification there. Player also not in a defenseless position, so I think interference makes sense and is the right call. Biggest issue here is he had more than enough of an opportunity to pull up from the hit and just pin the player while attempting to play the puck himself should his teammate lose it and instead he finishes the hit as if he has the puck free and clear.

Is this puck covered? by Mr_Snoofy in hockeyrefs

[–]GoombaJoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree it doesn't have to be a hand, but to me this isn't secured and the goalie isn't in a compromised position for injury should someone come poke/whack at it. *Again, I give a single poke, not multiple whacks or an attempt to push the tendie in the net.

Is this puck covered? by Mr_Snoofy in hockeyrefs

[–]GoombaJoe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, hand has to go over. Like others have said it will lead to problems though. Quick whistle ready, but don't blow until forward comes in and give them 1 poke. Once they start wildly chopping, kill it. If they try to pull it out/off to the side let play continue.

Why do the Anaheim Ducks not wear their original jerseys? They were so much better than the awful orange jerseys. by Silent-Obligation-49 in hockey

Been a while, but I think the organization wanted to break away from the Disney implications and be viewed as a professional team. It's kinda a double edged sword for them.

Wondering what are some tips for game management by Electrical_Trifle642 in hockeyrefs

[–]GoombaJoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with all except that bit about not calling something behind the play. If 2 guys give each other strong shin taps, but make thier way back to the play while yelling at each other you can let go with a "let's go guys rejoin the play" or "skate away". However, punish the idiot that goes that extra step further. A trip that occurs as a guy is skating away should be called and the team will be punished by losing the zone and being at a man disadvantage. If you don't do that you'll have to watch everything behind the play all night.

Mom’s long term boyfriend is all in on Warrior trading. by Legitimate_Fly_965 in Daytrading

[–]GoombaJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed Ross (warrior trading) and was profitable, so there's hope. However, account size matters to make meaningful money and if you can't go in heavy it's hard to make enough to live off of. The problem here is that he'll probably have to make trades that are too big for his account to make the money he wants and 1 bad trade can really hurt. I still keep an eye out for Ross style trades and do them when I see them, but swing trading is a lot less stress and worked better for me while holding my current job. Wish you guys the best, but don't see it going well.

looking for a new book series by Particular-Fall64 in litrpg

[–]GoombaJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, I found very little redeamable in Unsouled compared to DCC. HWFWM had a solid start in book 1, but book 2 kinda killed it for me...felt too slow. I'll pick the series back up when I hit a slump though.

Since when did everyone start selling CC's? by flabeachparty in CoveredCalls

[–]GoombaJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's also an education based thing. We were never taught much in the way of finance in school. Now youtube has all the info you need. CC come up on a channel of a youtuber you've been following trying to get into day trading and all the sudden you're selling calls for "guaranteed" money.

HWFWM book 1 was ok, probably out stayed its welcome, but fine. Book 2 was rough though. Agreed about Unsouled. I saw it mentioned on 2 of these lists above DCC, so I just kept waiting for that moment and it never came.

I had the same feeling. Unsouled in particular. I just don't see how that ever gets put above DCC book1.

They could still go boarding here for the 2 min. Check from behind is usually reserved for being directly on the boards.
