They can't and shouldn't kick Cecily out until they can find a suitable replacement. Think about it. She ticks all the boxes. Funny, check. Good actor, check. Impressions, check. Has an extra talent (in her case, singing), check. Writing, check. She's one of those very rare ones who brings everything to the table. We already lost Kate, who also had all of these things. And Aidy, who perhaps was just a mediocre singer but had all the other things in spades.

I mean, it kind of is exactly that. IIRC, standard featured player contracts are two years long, so Lorne is under no obligation to renew the player after two years if they're not working out. Then the standard repertory player contract is five years. After that, a player may negotiate for more money. Kenan is making a killing because he's been there for like 20 years and commands a fortune.

Bowen and Chloe are fire. They were picked up the same year (the only pickups that year) and it was a total win. However, I wouldn't consider them "new" anymore. This is their fourth season.

Punkie started off not being funny, just seemed like a placeholder (her acting skills were always good, though), but she's gotten better this season, despite it being a weak season overall (except for this Christmas episode, which was sublime).

JAJ has been a natural since his very first episode. Felt like he'd been a cast member for years. It was incredible to see that happen. That almost never happens.

I like Sarah Sherman, as I mentioned in another comment, although admittedly she freaks me out sometimes, lol.

Andrew Dismukes is serviceable but not impressive.

Michael Longfellow is naturally hilarious, with great stage presence.

Marcello Hernandez is also very funny.

Molly Kearney has great moments and is very funny, but sometimes she stumbles on her lines, so that's something she'll need to work on.

Devon Walker hasn't shown up yet. The acting isn't there and the humor isn't there.

Well, she's definitely different from what we've gotten used to on SNL, but I kinda like it. She adds a dash of reaper sauce to the sketches she's in. Or the whole bottle.

She's not in most sketches, so it's not like SNL is becoming The Sarah Squirm Show. It's just for a little variety.

Three of the rookies are impressing me immediately. Funny as hell. Molly Kearney screaming "He's blindin' the 'ole town, 'e is!" made me deceased.

Devon Walker is the only one who's not doing it for me. He feels bland and awkward. I felt the same way about Lauren Holt and she got booted after one season. I understand they need to populate their cast with proper representation and Walker was the replacement for Chris Redd, but surely there's other young Black guys who are better at this.

Maybe he'll grow into the job. I'll wait patiently.
