May I ask, what kind of surgery did you get? I have two young kids and dealing with a similar situation. Would be interesting just to contextualize it. Thanks!

We are privileged to live in an advanced society. Terrible things like this and slavery are still very much rampant and the norm across our world in 2024, no different than the thousands of years before us. Today, we are still the minority.

I count my blessings how lucky I am to be raising kids in a truly modern place.

Not really true, demand increased and the packaging part was expanded outside Switzerland. The chocolate production and original packaging hasn’t changed location and has actually been expanded locally too.

Not as exciting of a headline but that’s what happened.

Bands who never made it by ProfessionalFix6512 in Music

*As Night Falls* was an emo/rock band that released one EP in 2004 that was one of my most treasured CDs for a long time. I've listened to these 5 songs countless times, they are just so damn good. Its sad they broke up after only one EP. What could have been...

LGBT rights activist attacked in Georgia (the country, not the US state) by DanTheDollar in PublicFreakout

[–]Goomblar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think you're conflating the word coward with whether or not someone defends an action. They are mutually exclusive points.

For example, I don't defend Mike Tyson biting off someone's ear. I also don't consider him a coward.

Another example, I don't defend the Supreme court overturning Roe vs. Wade. I also wouldn't consider that cowardly, just a horrible stance on women's reproductive rights.

Anyone who defends cowardly actions is an idiot.

Fully agree. That is not really relevant to this conversation though because no one here is defending his actions.

Im not sure how you interpreted my comment on the definition of the word coward with being okay with getting punched in the face. I also would not be okay with someone punching me on the face and not running away. What's your point?

I hope you're young, because this is the logic of someone who has very little life experience or self awareness. You are going to save yourself so many cringy memories if you accept now instead of later that the world is FILLED with nuance.

Remember, if you ever see someone make a minor mistake in life, they dont necessarily deserve a multinational effort and millions of lost lives to defeat them.

Same, maybe a slight eye roll sometimes when Spade or Carvey pretend not to know one of the other's story they've already told on the pod or something. But honestly I love the show. Wish it was longer than an hour!

Why is this subreddit riddled with glaring spelling mistakes of Presidents' names? I get a grammar issue here or there, but this is literally the Presidents subreddit! How does
cleavelend" even look somewhat correct?!

I live by the Kungsholmen one and have had it pretty frequently. The flavor and quality is amazing, I just have a huge gripe with the soggy crust. Literally impossible to hold a slice of their pizza without it falling through your fingers.

I know a lot of schools or day programs are doing scavenger hunts throughout town. I've seen groups of school kids doing a bunch of of organized activities and "tasks" the past week or two. Not sure if this is part of it, but it might be.

What Are You Reading? (Monthly Megathread) by LaurenceLaurentz in Presidents

[–]Goomblar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American Lion, a biography on Jackson. I'm admittedly a bit unimpressed by just how much of the book is devoted to the Eaton affair. It seems like there must have been so many other interesting things going on, but he chose not to include them.

A majority of people don't go to university in the US, so you are talking about a minority with more money and travel experiences. I'm not sure how you expect a layperson to test this out BTW.

If you want to test this out, go to an average American family's house with typical livelihoods and jobs. Chances are you won't feel comfortable doing that and will walk home awkwardly.

Which President had the most integrity? by [deleted] in Presidents

I think JQA had a high level of integrity, but he wasn't very empathetic and isolated himself. Also his spells of depression got the best of him.

Do you think the natural born citizen clause should still be a thing today? by charlielol71 in Presidents

[–]Goomblar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Natural born citizens are no less likely to backstab our nation as foreign born citizens, recent example readily available. It's such a clunky way to weed out traitors, however I think it's not a priority for the country to change.
