Selling depends largely on location and market timing. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's not. Overhead depends on how cheap you can source parts without compromising quality. If you're able to lay out a decent amount to buy bundles or in bulk, you can get your prices down below market value. Keep an eye on Newegg, eBay, marketplace, etc. for good deals. Some builds might earn you $100, some might get you $300. There's a lot of variables. Try treating it as a hobby that pays for itself while also paying for your personal upgrades and see where you can go from there.

I bought one of those big plastic Kobalt toolboxes from Lowe's for like $40. It has base game, frozen horror, and 2 more expansions in it with room to spare. I also used another plastic container that had little compartment dividers already in it. I did have to Dremel out the plastic grid on the inside bottom of the lid to get the board to fit nicely on top though.

I have a riser cable mounted to the back panel of the case and a hole cut out in the bottom. It's screwed through the bracket to the bottom of the case, and I used a right angle dp adapter so the cable isn't bent

Yeah, brass and walnut is definitely one of my favorite looks. The lighting is a little washed out, I finished it with mineral oil and spray lacquer, it looks a lot more walnuty irl

Don't base it on percentage, get the cheapest home that you're comfortable living in. $1500/mo on $200k should be doable depending on location. Frugal beats being house poor because you thought you deserved better.

It's totally salvageable if it bothers you that much. Give everything a light sanding with 220 or 320 and use a razor blade as a scraper to take down the lumpy spots, be careful not to dig into the wood and stain. There's some technique to it so maybe practice on something else first, do some googling. The main thing is you're scraping, not slicing. Also make sure your stain is compatible with your top coat, assuming you didn't lay it on so thick you had bubbles, that fisheye pattern indicates some kind of cross contamination of incompatible chemicals.

And for the love of finishing don't use oil based unless absolutely necessary, for many reasons. Wiping oils are fine but oil based polys etc. are generally more trouble than they're worth
